If you randomly woke up one morning as the opposite sex how do you think it would impact your sexual orientation? Would your sexual orientation change, would it stay the same, etc.?

As for me (a cisgender bisexual male), I think I would still be bisexual if I woke up one day and was a cisgender female. However, considering I'm more attracted to women than men, I wouldn't be surprised if I was a lesbian. Although, I have joked with my sister that if I was a cisgender female, I would go around having safe sex with all the men I could (I'm super sexual, as my name implies). Haha. I guess the small chance I would possibly identify as straight isn't super surprising considering I'm bisexual.

Credit to @Canterpiece for this post. She posted about this topic in the thread, "What are you thinking?" and I wanted to hear everyone's opinion on this matter. I think it's a super interesting topic!

@Canterpiece mentioned how she has seen, "straight cis people be asked about how they'd act as the opposite sex, if they swapped overnight, the assumption made is that they would be straight and their sexual attraction would change with them. So straight women assuming they'd be a straight man, and straight men assuming they'd be a straight woman. E.g. "I'd probably get a boyfriend easily" or "It would get some getting used to, but I think I could get the hang of flirting with women".

I personally think that depending on the reason for their answer, perhaps they aren't as straight as they think they are... They way I see it, is if someone is 100% straight and suddenly woke up one day as the opposite sex they would be homosexual. However, I can see why someone would think their sexual attraction would change along with their sex.

I think mine would stay the same in a certain sense - I'm a lesbian, and if I were a guy then I would likely be straight. Personally I've had dreams where I've been a guy in different scenarios. How I feel about it varies depending on the dream. Gender-swap dreams are essentially about as common as say, failing a test in a dream for me.

Whether I'd feel dysphoric in a male body is something I've wondered about. I've been questioning lately about my pronouns and whether I prefer she / they or she / her. Likely I would feel dysphoric after a few days, I know I disliked being referred to as he / him when I was picked on in school and people would refer to me as he as a joke.

Presenting as male is something I'd probably only feel comfortable doing for a short while, I have wondered about doing drag. There are certain male characters that I think would be fun to perform as (I'm not an actor...but if I were...). Either that or I just want to dress like that character. Or I just want to experiment a bit with androgyny in general. Frankly I don't know, emotions are confusing.

Would I come out as a trans woman in this scenario, or would I live out the rest of my life as male? I'm not sure, it would be nice to have that acceptance and be more confident in talking to women, but would I be happy?

How much being female is a part of my identity is something I'm currently questioning. Do I just wish I could be more confident (something I wonder might be different if I were a straight man...not saying that all straight men are confident), or am I genuinely having a gender crisis? I wish I had the answer to that but I think I'm only going to find it with further introspection.

I think I would probably feel dysphoric as well, but I don't think it would go away though. However, I don't think I would be interested in transitioning. Who knows though, I guess I wouldn't know 100% for sure unless it happened. Maybe I wouldn't feel dysphoric.

I have often fantasized about being a woman and being able to have sex with men as a woman. So, I think my orientation would change in this regard.

I would definitely have gender dysphoria.

Surprisingly, I think I'd be pansexual. It just feels like something I'd do if I woke up as a male.

This actually did happen to me last May. Well, technically I didn't wake up - I had my revelation that I'm trans late one night and I was unable to get any sleep that night. It was like a switch in my head had been thrown from male to female. This may sound melodramatic, but it's genuinely what it felt like.

As for the impact on my sexuality...well, since then my libido has gone into deep freeze. I don't feel anything sexually at the moment. I'd like to again, at some point. I have no idea - if and when it returns - whether I will still be attracted to women, men or both.

I’ve always figured that if one day my body was to suddenly change to a women’s body, that my mind and attraction would stay the same. That being no direction on a sexual level but only falling in love with women on a romantic level.

I also have fantasized about being a woman and having sex with men as a woman as well. It's not super often though. I've come to the conclusion that it only has to do with porn (for the most part) and nothing with reality and that it's just a result of my submissive and more feminine side. I'm sure it may also have something to do with me being bisexual, hence my attraction to men.

I'm a disaster bi, so the answer to that question is a big NO, haha.
Nothing changes. I'm just finally in the body that was meant for me.

Ah, for me at least, it's basically that I'm bi, but consistency is never granted to me. If that makes sense? I could be spending months attracted to guys, with a week-ish attracted to girls. Or vice versa. Or even better, there are certain aspects that I'm suddenly attracted to but for maybe a day or so.

The wirings of my body really like to play games with me. This is something I know would put my number on Freud's speed-dial, and even then, I don't think the mystery of why my body is like this would ever get solved.

Looking up the term though, I guess I've got the definition wrong. Another question about this to answer, I guess.

Gotcha. The degree to which I'm attracted to women and the degree to which I'm attracted to men seems to stay pretty consistent day in and day out. However, somedays I'm more in the mood to kiss, etc. a girl (for example) than to kiss a guy. If that makes sense...

I would definitely be a trans woman (pre op), and would be attracted to men. I would only be in a monogamous relationship, and would be the caring, homemaker type. That would extend to everything from taking care of the home - tidying, cleaning, cooking - to looking and being sexy and available for my man. I would also be very protective of my man. I would want romance with a lot of cuddling with jaunts on the more naughty side where I would fulfill all of his fantasies as long as it is the two of us and there is no violence. We would make a world of our own.

I don't watch any porn that includes women, so I don't think it has to do with porn for me. I'm pretty sure it's just an expression of my feminine side, and I think it's also an outlet for fantasizing about hot straight guys.

This is an interesting question that I am not sure that I can answer.

But, I believe that sexuality is wired in the brain and not in our sex organs. So, I would assume I would feel the same things I feel now. How I express that attraction would change, of course.

The hardest thing about waking up as a woman would be the 20% cut in pay I would take for doing the same job!

If I woke up Male I’d be straight. I identify as bisexual because I’ve had a loving relationship with my husband but he’s the only man. I love women. No more men.

I would still be attracted to guys, but I like feminine, gay guys so I don't know if they would be attracted to me

One of my 'aha' moments was when a girlfriend was giving me oral sex and I realized I was jealous of what she was doing.
