As the title says, I need help making my shoulder length hair look more masculine. I can not cut it as I'm not out as gender fluid [working on that].

My hair is pretty wavy but I prefer it straightened out. I have medium length layers because my hair is so fine. I have a bit of fringe/bangs but they are really close to the length of the rest of my hair; maybe three inches shorter at most.

I have tried the beanie/pull hair up and it helps but I'd rather not have to wear hats or beanies if I can avoid them. Thanks!

Hi! First, I like your style! (As in here on EC.)

I suggest doing a man bun. Best I can think of for you.

I thought mine looked fairly badass when it was that long. The less you take care of it, style it, all that, the more you go for the Mad Max or William Wallace, the more masculine you look. Not much fun to clean up, though. Moderate risk of being mistaken for a hobo, depending on how far you take it.

Sometimes I'll tie mine back in a tight ponytail. When I want to be really fancy I use a bit of gel on top right after I brush and tie it.

I'd say that middle parts are pretty masculine. And just let it go natural, the more natural the better. Maybe grow your bangs out also.

Undercuts aren't seen as too masculine anymore, so maybe you could try one of those? Or if you don't want to go as far as cutting it, you could try a cornrow undercut. Where instead of shaving the sides, you make cornrows out of it. That can look pretty masculine too and could be passed off as hipster until you're ready to come out.

Just some thoughts. Good luck to you!

Man bun it. I grew up in the 80's where the most manly men had long hair. I would let your waves just be wavy and man bun it.

I think without bangs it could probably look more masculine? Even on cis men bangs can really make the face look a lot more feminine...

Would your parents object to a shorter, but feminine (depending on how you style it really?) cut? You could say you want to get a pixie and they would probably not suspect that it is for the reason you would feel more comfortable as you're trans.

Erica Lidner (an andro model) has had shorter and medium length hair and looks pretty masculine. Here's a pic with longer hair: Google Image Result for http://33.media.tumblr.com/5e84cde2734ea1c56d3a66076a15f026/tumblr_inline_nfu8u3xJd11sh1a9x.jpg

    (*sigh* ...she is gorgeous)

Or one of my male celeb crushes has about shoulder length hair:

    Still looks masculine...

Hope this helps/ you find a style that you're looking for (*hug*)

So I know this is manga but I (don't live in the real world) couldn't find anything else.

As soon as I read this title I thoughy of this character from Horimiya. He has shoulder length hair but he ties it back roughly in a ponytail thing. I think it looks kind of gender neutral but can look kind of masculine as well.

Here ya go: (the one on the right) http://p1.i.ntere.st/18e2fb2c38eec86d506275cc1b4a05a9_480.jpg

Ohh, that's cool! I found some real-life pics of girls/guys who have a similar style to that manga pic
