    Though I do use the [noparse]:astonished:[/noparse] face a lot, I'm more concerned about getting the resulting emoticon to look like the text face actually does.

    I'd just use the surprised face.
    [noparse]:surprised[/noparse]

    I'm just wanting to get the [noparse]:astonished:[/noparse] face to look like it actually should.
    Looking at the surprised face, it doesn't capture the pure confusion that the [noparse]:astonished:[/noparse] face does.
