I get this too, especially since I live in a relatively small place. Also they assume that I must totally avoid PDA with my girlfriend, which I don't. We don't make out on the streets, but holding hands and kissing once in a while... why not?
"Wait. So you were kissing RIGHT IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY?"
    "Yes."
"Oh, you're so... cool with it."

*goes super insanely crazy and overly apologetic when they accidentally misgender you that it becomes embarrassing because now you and/or your gender is the center of attention*

    Saw this on another forum:

"I think being gay is a choice, like changing what shirt you wear or putting shoes on".

    :eusa_doh:

    Logic.

My friend told me about the following. She was driving and her colleague who is a gay man was in the car as well.
She said: 'Oh, look at that f**got how dare he drive like that!'
She told me, she felt embarassed, because she forgot that she can't say things like this in the presence of her colleague and that it was weird.
Some days later she said to me: 'My f**got colleague has just got fired lol.'
This happened when I was planning to come out to her. I didn't. Haven't talked to her since. I don't know what to say after this.

    Me: "Well she's kinda cute"
Friend: "So you have a crush on her?"
Me: "Nah, I just think she's pretty"
Friend: "But I thought you were bi"

Me: "Wow, I love his outfit!"
Friend: "Hey, you can't like him too!!!"
Me: "Uh, I just like his outfit"
Friend: "Wait but I thought you were bi"

Friend:"Would you consider a polygamous relationship?"
Me: "Nah, it just seems too much out of my comfort zone"
Friend: "But I thought you were bi"

Ah well, they mean well but wow they're quite clueless XD

Oh man, ran into one of these again just yesterday. To think such a fallacy reigns so prevalent?

Tell them they may finally win this ages-old "argument" if they can spontaneously turn their attraction on and off like a switch, to whoever. They simply cannot.

My god, my dad keeps going on about "the young gay men" in the absolutely Worst way possible. His head is so Incredibly full of stereotypes, i never even knew that was possible. It's fine though, because "he likes gay people" (all of them? Really?). He does think that they dont do anything but have Sex and go to weird sex parties, and oft even Fall for older rich guys Who then "buy them". I mean, WHAT? I literally never knew anyone could think like this. The worst Part is, he considers himself like a "friend of the gays". Sometimes i think he just wants to make me mad and he knows it'll work that way. But yea, i'm not coming out anytime soon.

I wish I could challenge this... not quoted but to the effect of...

"Lesbians are most of the time in butch/femme relationships, and are just straight but want attention."

"Two femme lesbians just sit around talking about lipstick."

"All lesbians hate men." or "Lesbians only date women because they hate men."

"All lesbians are just doing it for attention."

Male Friend: I wish I was gay like you, being gay would be so much easier.

    Me:  Really?

Male Friend: Well it's usually easier being friends with the same sex usually, so gay relationships must be easier right?

:eusa_doh: Well no not really, I'm sure they're pretty much the same as straight relationships, and besides personally I find it equally easy to be friends with either sex, but I guess that's just me.

I think sometimes people don't realise that gay relationships are usually more than platonic friendships with the odd kissing, and that there are actual feelings involved just like with straight relationships.

On one forum I saw a woman write that some women become lesbians because they are too ugly for men, so they are "forced" to start dating women cuz no guy will ever like them. And she used a friend of hers as an example for that

Someone once pointed to me as an example of a straight person when talking about sexuality, I wasn't out to them at the time so it was awkward.

Friend: Take (insert name here) she's straight.

    Me: *internally laughing*.

"Lesbians? You know what, I blame dildos!" - Someone I know...

"See? They're everywhere!" - Every time my father sees a lesbian couple...

"All the men are single, and all the women are with women!" - My father's comment on the lesbian population of where I live. By the way, about 8 out lesbian couples. Ignoring all the straight women with boyfriends *facepalm*

    Sorry to reincarnate this thread...

To paraphrase an old Jehovah's Witness publication... "I think if teens knew more about their bodies they wouldn't feel the pressure to be gay."

Seriously. I have never felt pressured to be gay. Ever. Never been taken aside by my friends and asked why I wasn't gay like the cool kids. Exactly the opposite. I got bullied for hugging my best friend.

Same Jehovah's Witness publication... "Girls are often bisexual because they will do anything to make boys like them."

    *Facepalm*

"..." Every time I mention LGBT stuff to my dad.

"Aww, you're not a lesbian! You're just going through a sexy phase!"

"You're not really gay, you're a wannabe gay."

"She turned out gay? What a shame."

"Why would you want to be gay?"

"How do you know that you like women when you've never even slept with one?"

"You just haven't found the right man. It would help if you dressed more femininely and dolled yourself up a little."

"I don't know how you would want to go down on another girl's genitals, that's disgusting!"

"How do you have sex if you're a lesbian? Do you wear a strap on? Do you scissor?"

"Sex between two women isn't real sex because there's no penetration."

"Which one of you is the man in the relationship?"

I could go all day with these, so I'll stop here haha.

"Oh! He's gay! I'm perfectly fine with that! We can still be friends, you know..."

I'm not sure she was as fine with that as she pretended to be hahaha

Yess! Haha, the worst part about that one was that a former gay guy friend of mine said that to me when I came out to him. He's gay himself, and he completely dismissed my sexual orientation...kind of upsetting! :unamused:
