    My mother said this earlier:

"I'm okay with them as long as they don't try to convert me."

This threw me, because shes not usually homophobic. In fact she's usually very supportive of the LGBT community.

I just don't think she fully understands sometimes....

Sounds like what my friend told me about me divorcing my husband
friend: just get back with your husband
me: why would I do that?
friend: so life will be easier

and that friend was actually my ex-grilfriend who is now happily married to a a straight guy and they have 2 kids now.

I'm not out to my mom.

Mom: (seriously) Hey, you aren't having any love issues with boys, right?

Me: err....no. There's no guys I really like in this school.

Mom: (jokingly) Are you having any love issues with girls?

Me: uh....well....(In my head: There's no girls I really like in this school either)

(Me in my head: I am so single, not in love, :joy: and in the closet.....)

    My hr manager yesterday:
I don't want to stereotype but you can usually tell when someone is gay. And not that that's an issue, it is 2017, I just don't agree with them.

I would love to be told that by my HR manager. Nothing like a little Union activity to get the blood pumping and liven things up a bit!

Yeah, I was not pleased. I was also pretty mad at myself for not being able to think of something to say at that moment. It just really caught me off guard.

Personally, I wouldnt say anything unless I had the ability to get them in to trouble anyways.

One day my mom flips at my dad and calls him a teabagger (he's hardcore conservative, she's a staunch liberal).

Dad: "I am not! That's what the gays do!"

    Me: "......."

People always want to know who's the MAN in a lesbian relationship. Ugh...

I know, I remember as a kid, long before I had thought anything about sexuality, I was playing with this girl at a party and she (platonic) said we were married, and this other older girl said "there's no way you can be married, who's the man and woman?" She was saying that in a playing-along way, the way you talk to a kid, but it still didn't feel right, even at my age, it just didn't sit well with me. She was a few years older (practically an adult to a 10 year old), and I didn't know enough about politics or that in order to challenge her on that nor in a position to. Can they explain how there are many hetero couples where the man is a wimp and the woman wears the pants?

Sorry, I know that sounds harsh, it just annoys me when people keep making defenses like that when there are so many holes in their logic.

Does not sound harsh at all, I feel society needs a better understanding of gay relationships. There has been a terrible stereotype put into place by uneducated people. How do we fix the common miscommunication between heterosexual and homosexual communities?

"I'm not homophobic! I'm so accepting of gay people! I just don't think children should be left alone in a room with two men..."
"I'm not homophobic! I just care about you because you're my friend and I don't want you to go to hell."
"Being a lesbian must be so easy. You don't have to deal with men all the time."
"I had a crush on a girl once, but that was because I thought she was a boy."

Idk if this has been said before but
"Who is the girl/guy in the relationship?"
"Are you sure it's not a phase?"
    "I love gay people!"
"All gay people are nice"- this is a real quote from my cousin. Good to know she's an ally tho
"I'm ok with it but don't develop a crush on me"
