I've heard some mixed reviews on Tales of Legendia. I'm pretty open to new games, though, so I'd be curious to hear more about why it's the "black sheep" of the series. Can you tell me more?

As for Tales of Legendia being a bit different (to the point of being disliked), there are a few reasons why:
- The main character does not use a sword, which I had no problem with personally since I found it unique. If it bugs you, you can always switch to Chloe, who does.
- Enemies have very high RP which can border on annoying.
- There are random encounters instead of avoidable encounters like in Symphonia/Abyss, and encounter rate is annoyingly high.
- Linear combat.
- A lot of people hated the character designs (including myself, they were over designed but not a huge issue).
- There were no skits, except in rare situations, but you had to trigger something to do them (like cooking?). They were not random.
- The game is story is broken up into different segments instead of following a main story, so It's like three different stories. There's also an endgame to it. You only get to know the details of the main character's backstory in the main story, and they reveal backstory sidequests for all of the other characters you had to play through in the end. Some thought this was unneeded and tedious, but I actually liked that they added more. Some of them were real tearjerkers. It's not voice acted past main story though, that's my only gripe with it.

Most of these traits were in Phantasia as well, so I'm not sure why Legendia is picked on for being the black sheep of the family. It could be that it came after Symphonia (and around the time of Abyss, although I technically think Abyss was released a bit latter) so it was seen as being downgraded from those titles. It's up to you if you want to try it knowing this, but I think It's better to replay older tales titles like Phantasia first so you don't have your heart set on expecting it to be like ToS or ToA.

As for Pokemon! I started with Rowlet, which might have been obvious given my avatar. It's a Dartrix at level 33 now, so It's only one level away from evolution. My other team members are Pikachu, Growlithe, Vaporeon, Lycanroc (midnight), and Bewear. Also level 33. I'm waiting to get more moves for Pikachu and Growlithe before evolving them since they evolve with stones. The main reason I praise this game was that they tried something new without straying too far away from the basic formula, like with the trials and the region. It still feels like Pokemon, but I also don't feel like I'm replaying the same exact game again with different graphics/Pokemon.

As I was scrolling down to read your post, I looked at your avatar and then face-palmed for asking which starter you picked in Moon. :lol: But I liked hearing about your Pokemon team! I've tried not to look too much at the Sun/Moon Pokemon because I don't want to spoil too much before I play, but the ones I've seen look awesome! Have you encountered a lot of the regional variations of the older Pokemon?

Same here, in fact the majority of my book is the product of many accidents. As for the easier plot... There's a girl (the protagonist) who has stolen something that is very valuable to a certain group of people. They don't know her identity as the thief, though it is clear that they aim to kill the thief. But after a strange turn of events, the protagonist ends up working for the very same group of people that are after her, and so she gets into quite a bit of trouble in order to hide her identity, for the sake of her life. However, that group of course makes progress throughout the book, and so her chances of survival gradually become even more slim. That's the underlying plot in "simple" terms.

Perhaps you will someday, perhaps you will... Or I could just recommend you a bunch of songs. Though I'd have to know what songs you have at the moment in order to figure out what kind of music you like.

Agreed. I don't give too much thought into ships but even I can tell that Stony just won't work, not right now. Everybody's disappointed about the Black Widow film, or rather the lack thereof. It's a real shame. Hopefully Captain Marvel will turn out to do better.

He winds up going back in time, and ends up getting to know the pre-tyrant version of the dictator, in which he - or the player, I should say - is given the option of how to deal with him.)

Grammar is probably the biggest hurdle when it comes to me. I am not very good at it, if I am being completely honest.

I guess that depends on what kind of genres you are into. Most of my more classical knowledge is tied around plays and not novels. But I do know a few.

I do Tang Soo Do, which is a lot like Tae Kwon Do, but it's been around for longer.
Interesting story about the kayaking, actually. The English teacher at my high school also happened to be a whitewater kayaker, so he started a team right on campus!

I know right? It's really fun, I've been getting fired up about it because lately I've been making a lot of progress :icon_bigg I just need to work on kicking up a bit higher. That and my landing, because I do often land awkwardly.

Cool thanks! As I said elsewhere, I have rewritten the book around three times now so I've been working on it for a few years. But I did my latest rewrite around a year ago. School held me back for some time from doing much in the way of progress, and finding a proofreader became a bit problematic, but I have found a good one now. At the moment I'm applying to book agencies to help publish my book, and this involves writing applications and whatnot. Then I need to wait for some weeks, even months, for a response. After finding an agent I'll need to wait for some more years while they work on getting editors and then publishers. As a result the process as a whole can take anywhere from four years to a decade...

Some of my favourite soundtracks are from Gravity, Game of Thrones and The Maze Runner. Composers like Hans Zimmer and John Powell are great. There's also some sort of a music company called "Future World Music" that makes really good music, it's quite explosive at times and it's really invigorating for me

You're right, a Black Widow film is in high demand, so it really is disappointing that they made nothing in the end.

Yay, a fellow John Green fan! I'm a newcomer to Nerdfighteria, but I've been enjoying a lot of the vlogbrothers videos (as well as Mental Floss and SciShow). I still think Hank Green's video about orientation and sexuality is the best explanation of those subjects I've ever seen. I repost that video on Facebook every time I come across it. :icon_wink

I suppose training is the right word. I go my club around twice a week, though I train in my own time pretty much every day. Although I live in a block of flats, it does have a pretty large garden (two actually) and I head out there during the evenings to practice anything from fencing to kickboxing. I also do a bit of jiujitsu practice but it's pretty hard to do that without a sparring partner. I go to my fencing and jiujitsu classes once a week.

I can understand that. I used to get quite unnerved when I heard about people who had finished their books within a matter of weeks. But I've since learned that it's much better to take the time to refine your book as best as you can, rather than rush into it.

You're very dedicated how did you get into jujitsu in the first place?

Very true, slow and steady wins the race, as they say. I'm not a huge fan of John Green (I know I mentioned him earlier but I like his writing advice, just not really his writing) but he said he takes around 3 years to write a book, so I'm going to set that as my benchmark.

She isn't really epic music, but have you heard of Lindsey Stirling? I listen to her as just a general soundtrack quite often.

Hope you like it! Yes I have seen it, it was really good, though Benedict Cumberbatch with an American accent was strange (or Strange, heh) at first!

Thanks, I just find it very enjoyable and I feel really good afterwards, so of course I do it whenever I can. I got into jiujitsu when I started secondary school, because there was a jiujitsu club during lunch. That club has since moved out of my school which is good, because it means I can continue doing it once I leave the school next year.

I agree that he has some pretty good writing advice. Three years does sound like a good benchmark, that should give you plenty of time to plan, write and edit etc.

I used to listen to her regularly, though at some point I stopped for some reason. I'll be sure to check out her music now that you brought it up.

I'm really looking forward to Doctor Strange, I have been waiting for it for months! Though now that you mention Cumberbatch's accent... Well, this should be interesting.

Yay, a fellow John Green fan! I'm a newcomer to Nerdfighteria, but I've been enjoying a lot of the vlogbrothers videos (as well as Mental Floss and SciShow). I still think Hank Green's video about orientation and sexuality is the best explanation of those subjects I've ever seen. I repost that video on Facebook every time I come across it. :icon_wink

Exercise is supposed to be great for stress relief and stuff isn't it, hence why I'm hoping to finally start exercising regularly from next year! it's great that your secondary school offered that, my school never had anything that interesting :dry:

I reread it this morning because I'd totally forgotten about it before your post, and I cried for a second time. I hope you enjoyed it, as much as you can enjoy a fic with so much pain!

Yeah, it's brilliant for stress relief. Starting exercise regularly sounds like a really good idea, though you may need to experiment with a few different types of sports before you find the one that works for you. I personally find martial arts the most effective because it's quite active and it enables me to focus all my energy and tension onto a physical object. However other people find running or yoga more relieving. The truth is, sports preferences can vary as much as any other hobby. As for school sports, I agree that it was brilliant while the club existed. But it was soon removed and replaced by zumba which sucked for me.

I remember listening to her covers of songs like Radioactive, they were so good! They would get stuck in my head for ages haha. I also used to play the violin, and I think knowing the instrument makes it that much more impressive to hear Lindsey Stirling playing it so well.

Oh I will. Knowing me I'll probably have a LOT to say about it. :lol:
