No offense, guys, but try to read the posts before yours when you post, because this has come up like 3 times. They'll tell us when the issues should be fixed; until otherwise, assume the issue is ongoing and being worked on. If it suddenly starts working for you, you can report on that, but the searching for posts issue has been said a lot in this thread right after someone noted it.

    Hi,

We did another index rebuild last night that we hoped would fix the problem. It did not. There is another procedure we will now have to run, but we have to take the entire community down for a number of hours to run it.

We will wait and do that some evening (Pacific time) this week. We apologize for the difficulty.

I'm not sure that's a problem with the database or indexing...
Looks more like it could be a programming/code error?

Maybe someone should take a look at what happens in the code around line 2840 of search.php? Possibly some value is declared as a 'string' instead of an 'array'
(Its not whatever variable the text from "Keywords" on the search page goes into)
but has something to do with when you select "Posts" instead of "Threads"
under "Show Results as" at the bottom of the search page...
(select 'threads' and it works, select 'posts' and you get that exact error given above)
    <input type="radio" name="showposts" value="1" id="rb_showposts_1" />Posts

Yep.. that's using the same search function as going to the search page & searching for something there...

I still seem to be having some problems on the site. When I go to a user's profile, and click to read all their posts it won't let me read them.

It can't be a code issue as there have been no changes in the code in over a year. And the problem occurred coincident with the MySQL server getting taken down by an overly resource-intensive maintenance process on our development site.

We are pretty certain there's trash in one of the MySQL tables where it is expecting numeric or formatted data, and that's causing the error. Hopefully the intensive maintenance will resolve the issue.

Yeah thanks admins! The only problem I have is when I try to open the posts I've replied to. Not a big deal. Yet still frustrating  I will remain patient.

... so we did an intensive rebuild of the database tonight (hence the downtime for the site) that was supposed to solve the problem with the "syntax error in line 2840" error when trying to search posts.

It did not solve the problem.

We are now exploring other potential causes for the problem. We appreciate everyone's patience.

Probably an accurate assessment of how it felt when it became apparent the problem had indeed not been fixed.

Well, dang! Well, P may not be in my name for patience, but I'll add one now for y'all.

That must've sucked. The word intensive seems... intense. lol.

    I'll just cheer for y'all! I don't speak programming, I'm afraid.
