I have a lot to get through, and would like some easy slowish music to listen to as I am working through some stuff ... any ideas?

I'm trying to generate a playlist.

    Thanks

I already have some Chopin and other piano compositions .. but does anyone have any nice non vocal things? or even smooth vocals?

  2. Hmm. I'm not too knowledgeable about easier stuff. When I do work, I listen to Megadeth and Alice in Chains. Yup, not too good for motivational purposes.

Maybe you can try some jazz or electronica? That kind of stuff generally does the trick.

When I was studying I'd listen to loads of Chopin, Rachmaninov, Brahms and loads of other classical stuff.

Depends what you're into but there's plenty of instrumental music to make playlists from. I think my study playlist had lots of Mogwai, Orbital and Electrelane.

Thievery Corporation for the win on this one. Seriously. There aren't too many lyrics, and it's soothing ambient music so it's great for situations like this. That's what I find anyway.

You can try trip hop too. Portishead or Massive Attack for example.

    My almost-instrumental/dreamy playlist:

    Sigur Rós - Samskeyti
    High Places - Head Spins
    Sigur Rós - Takk
    High Places - The Storm
Johnny Foreigner - A Light In Every Home/Lights Are Dancing
jj - From Africa To Malaga
The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart - Gentle Sons
    Grizzly Bear - Dory
    Flosstradamus - Big Bills
High Places - On Giving Up
    Beach House - Zebra
    Caribou - Sun
    Fuck Buttons - Surf Solar
    Jónsi & Alex - Stokkseyri
    Joanna Newsom - '81
    Beach House - Take Care
Grouper - Heavy Water/I'd Rather Be Sleeping
    Joanna Newsom - Go Long
Noah And The Window - Blue Skies
    jj - Let Go
    Animal Collective - Visiting Friends
    jj - Intermezzo
    Au Revoir Simone - Shadows
Ladyhawke - Back Of The Van
    Swimming With Dolphins - Silhoettes
    Battles - Rainbow
    The XX - Shelter
Cats And Cats And Cats - Happiness For Lola
    Solange - Cosmic Journey
    Caribou - Leave House

I have NO idea why i posted that much, not as if anyone's gonna listen to it anyway, but ehh. Oh and add Steve Reich's Music For 18 Musicians too. M83, jj, Joanna Newsom, Beach House, The XX and High Places in general are all "studying music" i guess.

I listen to Mozart when I study. While I don't listen to classical music on a regular basis (even though I enjoy it) I find that if I listen to music that has words, I can't focus on my work.

I have a bunch of awesome movie and tv show soundtracks. Lately I've been listening to the Fringe soundtrack and it's been helpful as usual in doing homework.

Beethoven usually does the trick as well.
