Hi there, I was just wondering if there was any likelihood certain HTML tags could be enabled in the forums. The only one I really am interested in that doesn't seem to be available in vB code is the strikethrough tag (<strike> or <s> or <del>), basically the one that shows the text but with a horizontal line through it. Here's an image to explain what I'm talking about: Oh and I found a thread on how it can be done in bbCode: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=166291 Anyway, if this isn't too much trouble, can I request it?
We will definitely not be enabling HTML tags here. I'll look at that link later. If there's a mod to enable it in BB code that's OK.
I wanted to clarify that I didn't mean to say all HTML tags should be enabled but I've been on lots of sites where only some of them (usually the ones that let you format text) are enabled and I just assumed that if they were "turned on" for EC you could specify a list of ones which were acceptable and ones which were not. But I'm guessing the bbCode method is the way to go.
Although I don't imagine it would be much of a problem here, I've heard of situations where enabling HTML could be potentially dangerous... I'm pretty sure a BBC strikethrough exists.
The strikethrough tag should be but it works in some forum software and not in others. It doesn't work so well in VBulletin, but it works in phpBB and Invision Power Board. I'm pretty sure you can go to the admin panel and create special bbcode tags. EDIT: I've figured out how to do it - and I've PM'd instructions to Paul.
OK, it's done, thanks! I used the info here http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=77721 in the end. Just use the button the same as you would the bold or italic ones, or use [noparse]text[/noparse] tags. Example struck through text Enjoy!
Glad to help. Don't be shy to let me know if there's anything else I can help with. You could go completely nuts with custom bbcode tags if you wanted, like [wikipedia] or [google].
