Here's a joke I read on yahoo answers years ago:

On the first class section of an airplane, an obviously gay flight attendant skips up and down the aisle serving his passengers. While he's collecting passenger's food trays, he notices a woman who isn't putting her tray up. He skips over to her and says, "Excuse miss, you need to put your tray up."
The woman scoffs and says, "In my country, I am called a princess. I take orders from no one."
Without skipping a beat, the gay flight attendant says, "Oh yeah, well in my country, I'm called a queen, so I outrank you. Tray up b*tch!"

This is mostly how I feel. It would also depend on how vile the joke was and if it was told in a hateful way. If it was in good fun, I'd probably like it.

I heard this "lite" joke and like it a lot. I tell it to people.

Did you hear about the two gay guys who broke into an apartment on the south side of the city?
They didn't take anything. But they did rearrange the furniture.

I must admit, I did find Mike Reid's gay jokes funny. It might be because I was younger when I watched his shows, or it might be the way he delivered them. He did a lot of "picture the scene" sort of jokes, and I found it hilarious when he stepped in and out of character, because of his rough east end personality and gravelly voice. A lot of newer straight male comedians have high pitched voices and are naturally quite shrieky, so it doesn't quite work when they try to differentiate between a burly straight man and a flouncy gay man.

I think it’s funny because I’m gay and they have no clue..

Sometimes I think the person telling the joke is gay/ bi as well..

    Who know live life!!

Im so used to hearing it thrown around as insult and joke that I am mainly used to it at this point. Obviously, when people intend to be offensive and cruel it can hurt but day to day its something I expect to hear and rarely second guess it now.

i think it really depends. you can usually tell if someone genuinely is trying to hurt people or if its "just a joke"... also depends what the joke itself actually is... but i really believe that you should be able to laugh about yourself... on the other hand i could totally get why someone would take offense or be hurt by such jokes!

    Nice

It all depends on context and intention. Straight people are allowed to try, as long as they don't fall into the territory of the cheap and insulting. Same goes for the rest of us. I don't bash straight people, they do themselves quite nicely (by the way, some of the best jokes came from closeted gays and lesbians, and ironically many, many straight love songs).

Keep it classy and respectful, never mind who you are.
