i think crazy crazy nights by kiss

"People try to take my soul away, but I don't hear the rap that they all say
They try to tell us we don't belong, that's alright, we're millions strong
This is my music, it makes me proud, these are my people and this is my crowd"

i think glam rock and hair metal can be quite gay

    "Androgynous Mind" by Sonic Youth

Hey sad angel walks, and he talks like a girl
Out trying to think why it stinks, he's not a girl
Now he's kicked in the gut, they fucked him up, just enough
They got me down on my knees, I kiss his ring, God is love
    Androgynous mind, androgynous mind
    Androgynous mind, androgynous mind
    Androgynous mind, androgynous mind
Hey hey are you gay? are you God?
My brain's a bomb, to turn you on
    Everything is all right
God is gay, and you were right
    Androgynous mind, androgynous mind
    Androgynous mind, androgynous mind
    Androgynous mind, androgynous mind
Hey hey it's OK, hey hey it's OK
Hey hey it's OK, hey it's OK
Hey hey it's OK, hey hey it's OK
God said it's all right, for you to fight
    To free yr mind
    Whose side are you on?
Like a bomb, you're free tonight
    Androgynous mind, androgynous mind
    Androgynous mind, androgynous mind
    Androgynous mind, androgynous mind
    Hey hey it's OK

No one else I have talked to has ever thought of this and are always surprised when I say this is a LGBT+ anthem.

"This Is Me" from The Greatest Showman

"I am not a stranger to the dark
    Hide away, they say
'Cause we don't want your broken parts
I've learned to be ashamed of all my scars
    Run away, they say
No one'll love you as you are
But I won't let them break me down to dust
I know that there's a place for us
    For we are glorious
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be, this is me
Look out 'cause here I come
And I'm marching on to the beat I drum
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh
Another round of bullets hits my skin
Well, fire away 'cause today, I won't let the shame sink in
We are bursting through the barricades and
Reaching for the sun (we are warriors)
Yeah, that's what we've become (yeah, that's what we've become)
I won't let them break me down to dust
I know that there's a place for us
    For we are glorious
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be, this is me
Look out 'cause here I come
And I'm marching on to the beat I drum
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh-oh
    Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh
    This is me
and I know that I deserve your love
(Oh-oh-oh-oh) 'cause there's nothing I'm not worthy of
    (Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh)
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
This is brave, this is proof
This is who I'm meant to be, this is me
Look out 'cause here I come (look out 'cause here I come)
And I'm marching on to the beat I drum (marching on, marching, marching on)
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me
When the sharpest words wanna cut me down
I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out
    I'm gonna send a flood
    Gonna drown them out
    Oh
    This is me"

Hunter Hayes "Invisible". First time I heard it I teared up. Not common to find what is technically a country music song that is LGB inclusive.

I've also heard people say they consider Let it Go from Frozen to be an LGB anthem.

I was going to say this exact song. When taken out of the context of the movie, it makes so much sense as an LGBT anthem. At least, I've always viewed it that way.

Several Disney songs can be low-key LGBT anthems.

All the one's mentioned on this list

And I'm also going to add "We Are One" and "Love Will Find A Way" from Lion King 2, and "Heaven's Light" from Hunchback of Notre Dame.

I think "part of that world" from the little mermaid is one of them. It may even have trans elements to it. Well Disney films in general are based on drag queen acts

These always struck me as trans* anthems...

"Part of Your World" was on the list. I wouldn't say all Disney films in general are based on drag acts, but Ursula was definitely based on drag queen Divine.

Most of the stuff I've seen on Ursula have her as being a lesbian. I haven't seen anything on her being based on a drag queen. But Let it Go from frozen could definitely be about being gay and coming out. But a lot of Disney stuff is about love or not belonging. As a kid my favorite movie was pochahontas. I think that was based on colours of the wind. Watching it more recently I wanted John Smith (most generic name possible) to climb back in his boat with his friends and fuck off back to England. Which is what most of the boats from England to half the world should have done. But every Disney movie seems to have at least one character who could totally be Gay.

I've always interpreted Rebel Rebel as being about a masculine acting girl.

maybe less low key... but fast car by tracy chapman

i have also always felt that Denis by Blondie has a super lesbian vibe, even though it has male pronouns/gendered words. but maybe it's just wistful thinking because i have a big crush on debbie harry

It's crazy how many of these are actually on my lgbt playlist! I love how we all rwlate to these even if they weren't written with these intentions

Stand in the light - jordan smith (he's straight but it was used for national coming out day though)

This is who I am inside
This is who I am I'm not gonna hide
But the greatest risk we'll ever take is by far
    To stand in the light
And be seen as we are
