So how many of these terms are you actually familiar with?

In this Youtube video, several older gay men are presented with terms that are supposedly common, current terms used by younger gay men. The men recognize pretty much none of them.

I suspect that much of the terminology used in the video is uncommon or rare, and in use only in selected pockets of people. (The video was shot in LA, which has always had its own collection of words never used anywhere else.)

I'm curious if y'all have commonly heard some, all, or none of the words used here.

Virtually none of them. Kiki is the only one I've really heard used. But then again I suppose I'm an "Old Gay."

I've never heard any of them except slay, that one is super common. Then again I've never been around LGBT people either so I guess it makes sense I wouldn't know any.

I knew, like, a couple of them. But then again my friends have always told me I'm a seventy year old in a nineteen year old's body.

One of my exes use to use these terms all the time though. Funny

I recognize nothing. But then I'm:

    A) Over the Hill
    B) I don't have much real world connection with LGBT people. What little contact I have is with people my age and older.

Well, this is pretty much what I figured. I think this is a problem whenever someone tries to offer tips on slang... it's always regional. I remember various hilarious articles offering parents helpful tips on instant messenger-speak. There were always 3 or 4 that were commonly used and a whole bunch that *no one* uses.

Nope didn’t recognise any of these words.
I am not a native English speaker though but I doubt that I could properly recognise slang words in my native language either. I honestly never liked slang and refrained from using it completely.

I've heard most of them, but they are mostly internet LGBT culture than anything else. A LOT of them have been memes from Rupaul and viral videos. If you aren't in an online LGBT community onn tumblr, reddit, fb whatever then chances are you haven't heard them. I rarely hear most of them in person though.

I knew what about 1/3 of these words but even then, I've heard them incredibly sparsely in real life.

I've only heard of gayby, though I thought it was used for a child of gay parents rather than someone new to being gay.
