I've slowly been telling people at work, and while they don't get the pronouns, I am now being referred to as Nic by a few people ^^

Was walking down the aisle at the grocery store and this little girl pointed at me and was like "mommy she's weaally tawl".

    Bless you little one.

I'm pretty sure most of my stares come from being about 6'1 in flats.

    That made me feel good.

I had to do a lot of dishes with my back to the customers at work today, and a lot of them referred to me as 'he' or 'sir'-- so I guess my self-inflicted haircut looks pretty masculine from the back!

So, I went to my latest therapy appointment today. He'd written out the letter to send to the mental health team, who will do an assessment before (hopefully) referring me to a gender therapist. It was all he pronouns - "his family stopped forcing female gender roles on him when he was eleven", "he prefers Connor", "he is transmasculine".

It was so cool to read that and know my therapist was referring to me.

Also, I read a piece of life writing in class yesterday, effectively coming out, and the only question my teacher asked was "do you prefer Connor?"

It's been a good couple of days.

Well, I passed on my birthday, which felt pretty good. I have a male ID now so it's kind of weird how average exchanging my ID is becoming. Honestly, that's why I was looking forward to being able to buy alcohol legally. Not because I wanted to get plastered but because it gives me an excuse to hand over my ID.

...the only thing that sucks is when I have to get on the phone and I get ma'am'd. Honestly, I hate to say it but it makes me wish I didn't just have bad hearing, that I was deaf, so I wouldn't have to use my voice.

I'm going to see my former therapist on the 17th. My mom and I are hoping she knows a gender therapist to recommend or knows of any trans-youth groups I could get involved with.

Well my mom poked and prodded my boobs saying they should be lower and less perky for someone my age and I dress appropriately. I don't look bad either but still it's hard for them to accept and they worry about me coming out especially to a very conservative family. Still much progress was made.

Ohhh Kasey (*hug*) I'm glad that she's finally seen you, although the poking your boobs thing was not appropriate. Still, I'm happy that there's a future for your relationship. Thanks for sharing with us! (*hug*)

well, perhaps she's trying to be supportive in her own way suggesting that things are as she would see them. and it's a parents job to worry about our kids, even when they are full grown adults, my dad voiced concern that i not let people know about my orientation because my ex might try to use it against me in the divorce. but like you said, much progress was made. so happy for you with this step(*hug*)

On Monday, when I was waiting at a traffic light, an old guy called behind me: "Hey, young man, you've got your bike stand down. That can be really dangerous when you turn left, blabla." We talked for a moment and he didn't even correct himself. Second time I was read male ever since I was in kindergarten! =) The first time was another old person in Portugal energetically trying to stop me from entering a women's washroom...

Now I feel motivated that it should also happen when the person is actually facing me, not an old dude and I'm not hidden in winter clothes. :icon_wink
    Still felt good!

    My mom said these...

    1. My makeup game is strong.
    2. My dresses are pretty.

But she said "your hair is what gives you away".

    Her hangup is my wigs.

I'm like mom I have girls at stores at the cash register and sales associates telling me they love my hair. And not just one person, this has happened repeatedly. So no mom it's not my hair.

But I said if there is a hairstyle you think I would look good in help me pick it out. She said ok.

Around 90% of the people I interact with at work refer to me as Nic, and I'm getting there with the pronouns, but even the local starbucks get it and [usually] spell my name right~

I finally saved up enough to buy a binder. And I'm out to (mostly) everyone. Everyone here at college is using my preferred name and pronouns. It feels amazing!
