    I wonder if that is a UK size thing, because I have found just the opposite in the US - I've had much better luck fitting into boots than pumps of the same size.

    What exactly are sling backs? Are they always heels, or can they have flat soles as well?

    yes you can get flats or small heels in a slingback style. sling back, i think, refers to the strap that goes around your heel and holds the shoe onto your foot as opposed to a full heel piece that covers your whole heel. i find them great for summer:eusa_danc
