Interesting. I am fairly sure that there has been research on responses to suspected pheromones already, so this is nothing new, but the more research the merrier!

Yeah it's five years old but I posted it here so that it can be handy for use in response to those who claim that gays "prefer" to be queer or that they "recruit" others.

Well I do prefer to be queer :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: even though I don't get a choice (I do know what you actually mean by the way :icon_wink).
    Nice find on the article.

I'm curious as to how they found the "gay man" smell.

They didn't. Gay men and straight men release the same chemical in their sweat. They simply analysed the chemical compisition of male sweat, used the relevant chemicals to create the scent and monitored the reactions from the three groups.

I didn't read it carefully enough, sorry.

Still, it's the same process. They analyse the composition of sweat from a homosexual male then make a solution of the relevant chemicals for the test.

But it says the scent from the man was least preferred by straight men and women. Shouldn't the straight women respond the same way gay men do to a man's scent?

The point of pharomones is to attract those in whom the organism is sexually interested. Obviously, a gay man would not want to attract women.

There was also a piece of research that showed that perhaps male homosexuality isn't genetically induced but it is produced while the fetus is in the mother's womb. Basically the existence of testosterone in a female body is attacked by the mothers immune system. And the evidence they used to support this theory was that they artificially attacked baby mice so that they would respond to male feromones from other male mice.
