As a Scot, I'm very proud that my country is as forward as this and that our world is progressing. I will say though that I am very frustrated that it is coming just as my school days are finishing (6 months left) and feel as if I am just missing out, but hopefully it will be of great benefit to future LGBT students and it is definitely a very positive move.

Not sure if it gets extended to private schools or not. I seriously hope that my private Catholic school teaches about it.

    That's really cool!

This probably won't go over well in the United States unfortunately. Half our country still refuses to teach sex education at all, no way they will teach about LGBT people if they won't even do that.

That is awesome about Scotland! I wonder if in the US there are govt. grants to allow non-profits to create educational classes for schools on the topic.

An excellent move from the Scottish government. When I was at school we had section 28, it still amazes me sometimes how things have positively changed here.

Ouch. That would have been awful. At least it was repealed a bit earlier in Scotland (2000).

Yeah, it was in force for my first couple of years of secondary (when I desperately could have used discussion of LGBT issues, it would have saved me a lot of pain), but even after it was repealed I don't remember LGBT issues being discussed - other than I think once a one minute section in some video. I'm thrilled things have changed, and this curriculum can make a huge difference for so many people.
