As sad as it is, hating gays is still okay in society today. No one would dare repress the rights of women or minorities, but you can repress the rights of LGBT people and still get away with it.

I live in Texas and might half to leave even though I don't want to because I will most likely not be able to have children, a marriage, or the career I'm working towards here just becuase I love other girls romantically. This is one of the worst states for a lgbt+ person to live in and there is no protection against dicrimination, which sucks becuase I feel an attachment over growing here I have no choice but to especially now let go of.

It doesn't add up. He is taking away rights that we had before he was even born.

I know that many LGBT couples are moving to the United States in order to officially get married. As a rule, they ask for political asylum because such a marriage is illegal in their home country. According to the universal declaration of human rights, all people have the right to have a child. And what does qualified prospective parents mean? We have 70% of divorced couples. Does this mean that all these people will not be able to adopt children?

This is, quite simply, a detriment to the adoption system in America.

Since I am from Oklahoma, I know how it is: it's bad. Kids are not getting adopted by families because of this and other factors.

Disappointing. It was good to see country as big as America being progressive and accepting, and being a good example for other countries. But this is alarming.

While I do not think that it should be illegal to LGBT people to adopt, it has a very telling time period when it was passed that gives (IMHO good) reason to question the safety of children adopted to LGBT partners.

This was right during the time where LGBT marches were full of degenerates trying to include pedophilia into the community... And the community did a terrible job denouncing those people. Hell, we would have had better publicity of we pulled out guns and shot every one of those vile creatures on live television than allowing them to join the march. All but a few of the videos I saw (both on tv and independent raw footage) showed them being welcome at the march. Allowing pedophiles in the parades because of inclusion is not OK, and if the community does not have the moral strength to fight them, why would you expect the general public to want to allow you to adopt a baby?

If it’s any consolation, it was a House committee, not the full house, and this was months ago, before the Democrats took over. I don’t think the bill went anywhere. The bill wasn’t proposing a ban, it was to prevent states from penalizing adoption agencies that refuse to allow LGBT adoptions.

I agree that it’s a step backwards, and a sneaky way for the crazies to get their dibs, I just wanted to add some more to the story.

I completely agree, economically, and on issues of security and immigration, I am very Republican, because the immigration and security tactics seem very sound, when one views their economic impact. but the shit that they pull on the lgbt community is seriously bullshit

this is why i dont understand people who try to defend the right so much and not accept that it has problems. there are many nice, accepting republicans yes, but around now it seems only the hateful ones are getting a voice.

(maybe i just dont understand things, being a centrist  )

Agreed. I’m a registered Republican in the traditional sense (pro business, socially liberal) and as of January 20 2017 joined the Resistance.

Sadly some people think a same sex couple is unable to properly raise children which is far from the truth. There are many examples of great people who have been raised by same sex couples. If a single parent can raise a kid I don't see how a same sex couple can do any worse.
