    My old name starts with a J and I'm currently uncomfortable with saying it.

    I chose Cedar for myself. I know it might not be the most masculine but I wanted my name to mean something to me. In my culture, cedar is used to mourn, purify and connect with the spirits, whenever I see the traditional healer I typically see she usually says, "well, I think it's time you had another cedar bath, remember to make some tea out of it~!" Cedar is also used to purify the dead. I wanted my name mean that I wanted to help people, I don't know how to help people but once I find my own way I'm sure to run with it. Also, a bit of a negative to cedar is that it can absorb toxins that are around it which is why it's recommended to pick from white cedar trees that are as far away from any road as possible because that can be a bit risky. To be honest, sometimes my name is the closest I feel to my culture :\ but I try not to think like that.

    I go by Tristyn at school, but this is a feminized version of my birth name, which is pronounced in the same way. At home, my parents call me Dingdang, which is the Romanization of the Chinese unisex nickname "叮当". My full Chinese name cannot be revealed, as you would then be able to identify me offsite.

    I'm so grateful that my name in both English and Chinese are unisex names. It gives me much less anxiety during MTF transition.

    When I can afford it, I'm getting my legal documents updated with a name change to Galileo (first) Alexander (middle), but for all intents and purposes, I go by Leo.
