Hi Empty Closets, I'm Skye. I'm new here and not gonna lie kinda lost, but I'll figure it out eventually. Just wanted to get my first post over with, and I'm excited to make new friends in this community!
hey (i originally typed that as ehy lol) guys, welcome to it, I've been here a little while, ask me any questions you want to know, and if I don't know I'll ask someone who does. p.s. @Chip is the literal god in this site, so if you screw up bad, or just need any quick advice, post it and tag him, and because he is the grand sage of ec, he'll know how to help
Bro I couldn't help but laugh and love you a little bit for your roller coaster weekend finding out about your mother, sister and nephew. How strangely amazing is that?
It was great, but I'm Prone to panic attacks, so when my mom came out and outed my sister, I freaked the f*** out. But my mom brought me down a lot easier than usual, which was nice.
While I'm flattered that my thoughts are useful to people, it's important to clarify my role here. I hold one of five positions on the admin team that oversees our daily operations, and all of us are equals. I also happen to have a more flexible schedule than most of the rest of the staff, so I tend to check in on EC and post more than some of our other staff members. For the record, we also have two licensed social workers as part of our team, one (BlairSW) who is on our Board, and the other (Martin) who is EC's President, and does a lot of the heavy lifting with adding new staff, implementing policy, and the like. And we have several other staff who work professionally in support or social services roles, and many others who volunteer their time offering input, support, and advice to members. That said, EC is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity, run by a board of directors. So all policy, long-term, and day-to-day decisions (and, for that matter, nearly *all* decisions) are made by a team of people, either the admins or, in many cases, the entire staff. EC couldn't exist without all the contributions of our staff team. I may be more visible than some of them, but every one of them is vital to making this organization (and the website it runs) able to do what it does effectively.
