I play any genre and for almost 3 years now

 

I wrote the ABCs under my bed on the new hardwood floor with a sharpie when I was around the age of 4.

 

Fun story! I did the same but on a white wallpaper with colourful pastels

Since you’re both talking about your childhood artistic skills I have to tell you about mine.

I got a box of crayola crayons and when the heating was on, I sat in front of the white radiator and melted the various coloured crayons onto it. I loved watching the melted wax of different colours all mingle together, creating a beautiful spectrum. I was very proud of my creation. But it took my mum a long while to get it all off lol

 

Wow, so creative! That’s a whole new artistic medium

 

It is isn’t it? I should recreate it instead of working on canvas. Be a bit troublesome trying to sell my creations though lol

 

Just a matter of finding the right audience isn’t it. I think they would be popular in Iceland during winter

 

I never thought about that! If this takes off I’ll send you a percentage of my profits just for the idea.

Do you paint? I paint with acrylics. I took up art just a couple of years ago. Music has been my lifelong thing (teaching etc) so they’re my two favourite things to do. Do you play an instrument? I play piano, keyboard and organ. I studied sciences when I was older just to prove that any idiot could study degree level science and pass lol

 

Alas I can’t paint @Sunchimes but I sculpt it’s my repose. Clarinet and voice are my instruments. I know a bit of piano and always wanted to learn more! and I love organ esp Messiaen! I did my science degree pretty much for the same reason as you

 

Sculpting must be so relaxing. I doubt I’d be good at it though (I remember my plasticine models lol). Do you use clay?

I remember attempting to play my friend’s clarinet when I was younger. I never mastered the art of even getting a sound out of it. But I do love the sound of the clarinet. There’s a song called Stranger on the shore (Acker Bilk) Which was written for clarinet. I remember it being played in Blackpool Tower Ballroom. Nice song. I used to go there a lot because I learned to played theatre organ (for ballroom dancers) so I’d go and watch the professionals play on the Wurlitzer.

My favourite classical piece for organ is Widor Toccata.

 

Really like the image of playing organ with ballroom dancers flying around. Sounds like a scene from a film! I play jazz clarinet, I used to play in folk and gypsy jazz bands and sometimes people would dance which was the best part

I have never tried to play an organ in my life, but I admire the skill to keep your hands and feet working all at the same time?

I sculpt using drift wood, it’s really calming! I’d like to try clay one day…

Painting with acrylics sounds lush, I imagine it must be so relaxing to create things with a brush stroke

 

Playing in a band must feel fantastic. Sounds like you’ve had a lot of fun there. Especially with dancers as well.

Organ was my first instrument to learn and I had lessons from being 9 to 15 years old. I had to learn all the different patterns for left and and foot for each ballroom dance. Sambas, tangos, cha chas etc etc. At first I had to learn the left hand and foot part separate to the right hand and then put them both together. But as you get used, it becomes like driving and you don’t even think about your feet or left hand. It becomes an automatic thing. Sometimes left hand goes on upper manuals and right hand goes down to lower manual and that’s when you have to practice more. But your feet never go onto the manuals so that’s good lol

I switched to classical piano at 15 just so I could get practical exams done alongside the theory for teaching.

Now I play a workstation keyboard. This has all the theatre and pipe organ sounds sampled onto it and also piano and every other instrument you can imagine. I never get bored with it.

Working with driftwood does sound interesting. There’s lots of that on the beaches where I live. I’d imagine you can create lots of different things depending on the size of the piece of wood you’re working on?

I paint with all kinds of things. Sponges, palette knives and brushes, which include make up brushes and tooth brushes. It’s interesting but messy lol.

I play accordion since I’m 6 because of the tango dance scene in ice age 3

 

I like to do cake decorating for children's cakes

 

I'm pretty sure I love someone I messed up my chance with, forever. And I can never tell them.
