Why in god's name is there even a queen in 21st century? She's nothing but a symbol, and a useless one to anyone who values individual sovereignty. I've never understood this, and watching even part of the "royal" wedding only made me laugh. It's truly absurd to put any human on such a pedestal. She is not "god anointed" or however that goes. Neither is the pope, but when i heard marriage equality for tens of millions rested on "royal assent," made my blood boil at the stupidity of that legal structure.

I have more respect for the wealth of lotto winners. At least they paid for the ticket.

What I do not get is why people are glorifying the thief and harassing the owner/victim.

Stealing is wrong, the queen is right. Should she share? Can she afford it?
Those are after thoughts, stealing is stealing. Sure she could let it slide, but does disobedience not deserve punishment? The one they received at that is mild, for all the theft she has been gracious.

    ^ Yeah exactly.

Why on Earth were you hoping the Queen would have nuts?

So 2 wrongs make a right? Why not be the better and not do wrong in the first place?
None of us are blameless... no matter what we may think we've all 'dun bad'. Why stop at something the queen did? Why not condemn her parents that gave birth to her? Why not accuse the whole country for coming into existence??
    It's a shallow pit.

A bowl of nuts carries the implied offer of nuts to a visitor.

Yeah, these are my general sentiments.

I read about this story yesterday, I found it very funny - particularly the Queen marking the levels of nuts on the bowls - such an angry old lady thing to do!

She marked the level of the bowl? Tricky! I'd eat all the fancy nuts like cashews, and then replace them with peanuts, and cover it over to make it look fancier, and bring it back up to the right level.

I must be the only one that asks if I can have something when I go into someone's house. I'm not going to assume that the nuts/cookies/candy/whatever set out is for visitors.

Cashews are awesome, and almonds, haven't had either of those for a while now....

Yeah I think she's being overly greedy and shit. Like seriously it's just some nuts. you have all your freaking money, you get do and have so much, you have your horses/horse racing (must be nice...:tears: it's mostly the fact she's able to have them through tax money and stuff which bothers me a bit....) and you can't just let your police peeps have some nuts? god...

oh and I really love nips (the candy) and if I had those all around my grand place of living, I wouldn't mind my security peeps having them. Hell, that's why I would have them out, so they can have some, it's not a big deal, especially since i wouldn't be strapped for cash like at all.

I think it's a little different in a waiting room or drawing room of a national palace. It really isn't quite a home; more of a workplace. Police in the palace aren't going to consider the relevant etiquette as the same behaviour warranted in a purely domestic household.

Yeah! I was thinking that earlier too. It's like less personal, especially when it's like a large place maybe too...

I opened the thread thinking that the cops were caught fondling Elton John....

I honestly can't be the only one who constantly reads this thread title as "Police told to leave, [because] the Queen's nuts." >_>

Is that to kill the cops or the queen? Both has merits...
