So I went to see the Pink Floyd exhibition in the V&A museum today and have Pink Floyd on the brain. I wanted to see which album was peoples favourites and which song people think was their best, personally, I think that Wish You Were Here is their best album mostly due to shine on you crazy diamonds BUT hands down their best song has to be Time, few other songs lyrics really get as Time and its leagues ahead of most songs.
I like their stuff up to Dstom-dark side of the moon. Emphasis on 69-71 era Floyd. You listen to any boot recordings on YouTube of their shows from the US '70-71 shows
Pink Floyd is soooooo present in the soundtrack of my youth, and still now honestly. One of my best memories has always been my sister (16) and I (18) chilling in her room, passing the bowl back and forth and just spacing out to some Comfortably Numb. Such great times.
I grew up on them (and The Beatles and The Who) and got to see The Wall live at the United Center in 5th grade. It was awesome. I haven't listened to much of their stuff recently, so I probably can't answer as to what's the best, but I love their music.
God I love Pink Floyd. When I think about them the songs that come to mind (in order of remembrance) Comfortably Numb, Money and Wish You Were Here My guitar teacher is a Pink Floyd fan and thus I learned quite a few songs from them A particular track I like that I heard when I was 12/13 was The Trial which was the pre-last song from the Wall album, awesome stuff
Wish You Were Here is a perfect record in my books, I have loved it ever since I first heard it. Favorite songs include: Hey You Time Comfortably Numb Pigs Shine On You Crazy Diamond (1st part)
As further proof of this band's effect on my life, when I saw "Hey You" the song was instantly stuck in my head.
My favorite album is Wish You Were Here but I think Dark Side of the Moon is their best. My favorite song is Echoes. No others come close. I can't listen to post-Roger Waters Floyd. During his feud with the band in the late 80's I was always on Roger's side. His new album is kinda good. And Syd was a genius.
The Wall is their best full album. I can't pick a song because they all work together so well to create such a masterful composition.
A shame on you! no Animals, and no Dark Side in your attachments? Heh, I kid. Seriously though, Animals is my favorite album by them with Wall and WYWH close behind. "Numb" is their best composition, though. A perfect example of creative conflict that makes such a masterpiece. I have, as of right now, on vinyl: - Piper at the Gates of Dawn - Meddle (an honest-to-god great album, despite the cover) - Atom Heart Mother - Relics - Animals - Wall (First press, in good condition too) - DSOTM - WYWH I want to get one of the copies of Ummagumma for "Careful with that Axe, Eugene" and I'm debating on Final Cut. I have very mixed feelings on that album. I also secretly (but also not-so-secretly) want to go to the aforementioned "Their Mortal Remains" exhibit.
Favorite album: division Bell Favorite song: comfortably numb and great gig in the sky. I love the pulse versions of both the most. Echoes is also one of my favourites
