I have seen a couple threads on the subject but there is something that has been bothering me. I've identified as a transwoman on and off for a long time, but I haven't come to the realization until much later. I'm in my early to mid twenties and am wondering If I am too far along to even think of HRT if the opportunity comes along in the future. It has been 6 years since I have started to identify as a woman passively and only during the last month or so have felt this way fully. One of my biggest sources of dysphoria is just seeing my front side and my male characteristics. I have yet to get the chance to find a therapist as I need to open up to my family for it to be practical to do so.

I am just not sure what to think. Am I just too far along for it to make much of a difference?

well in your mid 20s isnt bad, im fifty and started the day before my birthday. talking with a therapist is a good idea, they can help with preparing to talk with family. check with your local planned parenthood they have programs for folks like us.

I dont know the specifics but you'll definitely lose certai effects that a teen or pre teen would exlerience. But i have no room to say what wl happen and what wont... the effects jsut wont be as great as those aho started younger. I say go for it.

Especially since youve had feelings for a long time...
I myself, mine have been there i jsut didnt know it... But this isnt about me.
    You can do it Senpai~

Thank you for your input everyone. I've given myself some time to get my feelings in order, but I want to go ahead and come out to my parents. I may end up using my contacts where I volunteer to help since they have done so much for me already on the subject. Including giving recommendations for therapists. I just can't take this feeling of being stuck as I am any longer! I apologize for going on a rant. It just feels like a lot has happened in a short period of time.

I feel like I have been trying to be strong for so long, but my feelings have ultimately caught up with me.

Thank you Rose. To be frank, I am not sure if I should feel embarrassed, happy, or both that I am being this vulnerable. I wanted to provide a lot of support for you, but I feel that I neglected to take care of myself to a degree.

I believe that you will succeed in your goals as well. I believe in you to.^-^

I sincerely appreciate that. This is awkward to mention, but I think we inspired each other with the things that we posted and ultimately things led up to this moment.

I do. Life is funny that way, and mine tends to function as one giant butterfly effect. In one instant, things can change before your eyes and before you realize what hit you. Speaking of which, when you said "You go girl!," it made me realize for the first time just how real this is. I now feel more confident then I ever have before since discovering who I am.

I want you to pursue your goals with all the support you have behind you. I know that one way or another, you have the ability to do it! I want to hear about your progress as well. Give it your all Rose!

Words can't describe how I feel for how glad that I am that I could help you like that. Your welcome Rose. My knowledge of the details with the other thread is limited, but I feel we have both gained something just as important right here. Perhaps even more so. That is a heightened ability to believe in ourselves, each other, and all others on EC that are going through similar challenges. It's like my signature says, "Hope is infectious. If your power isn't enough, we're here for you."-Kyoko Kirigiri.

Hehe. This feels like a moment right out of the series that the quote is from, Danganronpa. More specifically DR 1.

You have a point there. Still, I feel like I am ready to come out to my parents. I will definitely need to make use of letter writing though. There is just too much for me to say to communicate it all effectively in a conversation unaided. I want to make how I feel known in all aspects. I already have some resources to look into to start off with. Thank you for your advice, I will keep it in mind.
