    Hi peeps,

You may have noticed that the staff have been removing quite a few threads lately that link to various websites. This is due to the recent changes we have made that need to be enforced to ensure EC carries on running.

Please can you all avoid posting links to any off-site profiles that you may have. This includes bebo, Facebook, Myspace, Youtube (profile) etc. You get the idea on what we're avoiding. Anything that could be used to identify you off the site is not allowed on here. We only give people access to such information on here when we can be sure that they have no undesirable motives. If we allow links to profiles outside of this site then we cannot monitor who views it and you could put yourself in danger of being contacted by a naughty stranger.

Posting such links will result in the thread/post being removed and you receiving a PM reminding you of this rule. We cannot allow such links as it would put a clear flaw in our security system. We would also like to remind you that you should be very very very careful about what information you give out and who you give it to. Even if given to a 'Full Member' we strongly suggest you get to know them first.

    Thankies for reading.

    Re: Offline Sites - Profiles

As well as the types of sites Martin mentioned above, the same thing applies to MSN, AIM, Yahoo, Skype and other similar instant messenger IDs.

    Thanks!

We are seeing and removing a few MSN and similar IDs from Wall Messages. As noted above these are not allowed to be posted anywhere on EC.

If people keep abusing Wall Messages this way we may have to disable the Wall feature completely.

Another reminder about e-mails in wall messages. They're not allowed for a reason, we aren't just trying to annoy you. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: That's just a bonus. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

It is also not acceptable to post your email and ask the member to delete that wall comment once they have read it. We can still see them and it will just result in you losing your ability to use the wall. Nice idea, but it won't workkkkkk. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Note: The ability to edit and delete wall comments has now been removed. This is to avoid people doing what is in the quote.

    Naughty naughty.

Yet another reminder not to post emails and/or any personal information on wall comments.

I'm not a fecking parrot peeps. There is only so many times I will say this before I start using weapons to get the message across.

Due to continued misuse of the wall and peeps blatantly ignoring the gazillion warnings on the site (either that or you're blind) there is now a discussion in the staff room about introducing further restrictions on the wall or even removing it altogether. If you want it keeping then I suggest you all behave whilst it is being discussed.

We'll keep this updated on any decisions made about it.

    *hates the wall* :tantrum::bang:

This rule is not us being awkward. It is for the reason discussed here, which some of you (especially newer members) may not have seen or be aware of. We need to protect the site this way as a repeat of the incident that bought about those changes could result in the site being closed.

Wall messages cause us a lot of problems and work, and seem to the the main way of people sharing information they are not permitted to share. Since polite requests clearly don't work we need to work out the best way forward.
