There's no such thing as "normal". I guess some of us may think of straight as normal, but look at the huge diversity amongst straight people.

Straight people are obviously the majority, but that doesn't make being straight normal. If straight was normal then gay/bi/lesbian/whatever would be abnormal, and we are certainly not abnormal.

Everyone is different. Maybe we are a bit more different in some ways. But as Spiky said, it's normal to be different. So therefore we are normal too......

I know that goes round in a circle and contradicts itself. That just shows how impossible the idea of a person being "normal" is.

it's all relative. there are three forms of Normal: Normality to Socity, Normality to Myself (or Yourself, whatever. basicly, a spisific person), or Normality to the world and to Humanity.

Socity, Normal is a bunch of people slottering there faces with a mask and there neglecting there bodys, trying to figure out why they are so misrable whilist trying to copy every modle out there to be cooler then them.

Myself, Normal is apreciating my body as it is, and my personality as it is, not careing what other people think of me.

On the whole of man kind, Normal is...breathing. XD

To act as if there are no societal norms might be a little naive, we need to embrace the differences amongst ourselves rather than overlooking the normality of society. In 1975, Virginia Satir wrote, "I Am Me", a poem that is a self-examination piece. Satir, in part, writes:

"In all the world, there is no one else exactly like me
Everything that comes out of me is authentically me
Because I alone chose it - I own everything about me
My body, my feelings, my mouth, my voice, all of my actions."

Acknowledging that there are differences between each of us and the societal norm, Satir, points out it is okay to be whom you are regardless of how deviant it is from the norm in the last sentence:

"I have the tools to survive, to be close to others, to be
Productive to make sense and order out of the world of
People and things outside of me - I own me, and
therefore I can engineer me - I am me and
    I am okay."
