Bisexuals should have a cooler title, "bisexual" is boring...

    Gay+Straight...

    Stray? No, negative connotation...

    Gaight? No, too weird...

Graight? No, sounds good, but bad spelling...

Grate? No, sounds good, but we're not cheese(y)

    Great? YES! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_danc :eusa_danc :eusa_danc

Ok let's go with that. Only drawback is now when I see a Trump speech I'm going to think he's constantly talking about bisexuals.

That other thread was kicking around names.

I suggested a couple of ideas.

    Flexsexual or Sexflexible?

    Interesting discussion.

My wife is bisexual, and really likes identifying as bisexual. But she embraces the promiscuous side of the image, and helps perpetuate it.

Last century she had hoped pansexual would be a nice mellow term for people who were interested in monogamy after entering a relationship, or as she puts it people willing to give up half their sexuality. Mary is pretty edge, as I've said.

That term, of course, took on a life of it's own.

There is the term polysexual, which was in use a little back some time ago. That never went anywhere.

    ---------- Post added 19th Mar 2017 at 11:00 AM ----------

Mary has been out as bisexual for 25 years. She claims the term, ferociously.

She likes the idea of a new term.

I just remembered another one I tried to get my wife to use back about 20 years ago.

Omnisexual. Like omnivorous. It seems to fit her.

But she never wants a new name for her take on bisexual. She thinks the stigma is cool. She thinks bisexuals willing to close off part of their sexuality and live wearing the straightjacket of monogamy are the ones who need a new name, since the stigma is already there for the term bisexual.

I think there should be a name for a bisexual who's more of a lesbian than a bisexual.
    Like LesBian, or something. Besbian?
    Haha

One of those sexual wiki places people go to post definitions defines "omnisexual" as being like pansexual (and some bisexuals) where you will date regardless of gender but unlike with pansexual which has a reputation for being "gender blind" omnisexuals have gender preferences.

No idea how accurate that is though.

Omnisexual in the Doctor Who sub-culture means someone who would be willing to bang anyone regardless of gender... or species. Certain characters in the show (e.g. Jack Harkenss or River Song) are like that. Not that this has any importance whatsoever in reality. Just what came to mind and I thought I'd probably chuckle if I heard someone say they were omnisexual, for those reasons.

Well, The Doctor does have more importance than most people in the world. Or, beings?

Yea I agree I think bi is fine the way it is even if I don't use that label.

Bisexual is fine as it is. Try to change it and you'll just be asking for confusion.

I think Bisexual is a pretty term. Sounds better than Lesbian IMO

I don't really have any suggestions but have long thought it does need a nickname. You rarely ever hear people say "I'm homosexual" or "I'm heterosexual", they always say "I'm gay" or "I'm straight".

In addition to that I think the LGBT community as a whole needs a nickname. "LGBT" just doesn't roll off the tongue very well.

If I still identified as Bi instead of Pan, I would fight over being called Bi because she is talking about polyamory.
