I am just wondering what music you all listen to that makes you feel nostalgic. I guess for me it would be the album The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance. I first listened to The Black Parade when I was in high school (the album was by no means new when I heard it, it was probably six-seven years old but I still love that album). Anyway, the album reminds me a lot about how my life was at the time. I was trying to figure out a lot of stuff about myself, I was trying new activities, I was recovering from depression, and I was experiencing one of my first major crushes at the time. I use to listen to songs off this album all the time (and I still do) and I do a lot of thinking about life when I listen to music so I remember a lot of memories, some bad, but mostly good.

About 2 months ago a music venue near me hosted an "emo night"...my friends and I decided to go and it was pure nostalgia for me as they played all the music I used to listen to in my teens (which included a lot of MCR). It was such a good night!

In addition to those other artists that make me feel nostalgic include:

    Sting and the Police
    ELO
    Lighthouse Family
    Fleetwood Mac
    Kate Bush

All of the above are artists that my mum used to listen to when I was a child, and are very special to me. Sometimes specific songs will transport me to a memory and it feels so vivid and real, as if it happened yesterday.

    Dang, that sounds pretty fun!

Music is very powerful as far as evoking emotions go, in fact, some colleges are starting to offer degrees in music therapy. Music therapy is where music is used by professionals to help treat emotional and mental health issues. I considered going to school for music education and I wrote two research papers on the affects of music education courses on students (emotionally and school work wise) while I was in high school. However, I wouldn't call myself an expert by any means but it is amazing what listening to music can do. Besides TBP, I have all sorts of music that pulls me back in time, everything from the Beatles to Romantic era music (music that was composed between the time Beethoven started composing and the early 1900's).

When ever I hear Fleetwood Mac all I remember is my dad driving me to school. He played the same cassette tape every day. Baby One More Time by Britney Spears takes me right back to seven years old when that song was huge. I bought a Britney Spears album with my communion money. Every girl in my class knew all the lyrics to that song.

Shania Twain reminds me of Miss Ren my third grade teacher. She always played her cd's.

Anything popular in the early-to-mid-aughts makes me think of my teenage years.

Anything by the band Switchfoot. I listened to them incessantly when I was around 12-13 years old. Also the song On The Nature of Daylight fills me with deep, existential nostalgia...

This was my high school graduation class song. At the senior luncheon, they played a version of this song with comments from graduating students inserted in.

The x-treme express soundtrack.(It might have something to do with the fact that, that game got me into gaming)
But one song in it that sticks out to me is the Replay music:

Pretty much every popular song from the 90s and early 00s.

Last Month I saw Iron Maiden in concert and they played one song from almost every one of their albums. That was the music I listened to in my teens, so it was just this amazing journey back in time for me.

Taylor Swift's music before she changed her music to full on pop. I listened to her music a lot with a best friend of mine. Good times.
