    Hey everyone,

Does anyone know any good movies (preferably under two hours long) that are about mental health disorders?

I've recently watched 'Call Me Crazy: A Five Film', documenting schizophrenia, PTSD, severe depression and bipolar disorder, and I watched 'A Beautiful Mind' today too, starring Russell Crowe. It's about a mathematical genius with schizophrenia.

    Can anyone recommend any more?

It might seem weird that this is what I'm asking, but mental health disorders have started to fascinate me since I started studying psych, even though we haven't touched on them yet.

Girl, Interrupted is an amazing movie. It's one of my favourites and I'm surprised I didn't mention it. Never heard of the other two though, I'll put them on my list.

It's Kind Of A Funny story takes a sort of comedic approach to the topic, it's a pretty good film tbh.

Prozac Nation is about depression. Like GI, it's based on an autobiographical novel. I Am Sam is about Autism. Sean Penn won an Oscar for it, I think.

I think I Am Sam will be the first out of the two I'll be watching. My brother's autistic so it'll be fun to see how it's presented in this particular movie.

A word of warning: I Am Sam is not a "fun" movie but it is very well done. If you do want a more light-hearted movie about autism then I'd suggest Rain Man.

Inside Out, for depression. (The animated one. It's surprisingly accurate in its portrayal and analogies)

Manic. It's about teens in a psych ward. I love that movie.

Autism is on a different spectrum than mental illnesses.

This was addressed before the site crashed and we lost the posts for it, but I'm grateful for the autism movie suggestions nevertheless.

I don't know any good movies but I have several conditions and if you want to learn more about a mental illness, feel free to ask me questions.

If you're interested in MPD, Sybil is a great one.
