Mass Effect is one of my favorite games ever. I'll skip the rant about the ending and all...this is about the female versus male version of Shepard.
I am a full supporter of FemShep. I have profiles with both...but I prefer her over him. I'm not even a feminist.
Here's why...I like some of the romances with manShep...but otherwise don't care for him...I'd probably like him a lot more if Meer was a better voice actor. Everything manShep says is so...emotionless. So I kinda don't buy what he's saying in the romantic dialogues. Jenifer Hale's performance as Shepard is infinitely better in my opinion. Hers is awesome by itself...she brings a lot of dynamic and emotion to the character. She was the reason I started to really *like* Shepard. And compared to his...his seems just...awful. As I said, if his voice was more believable, I'd probably be 50/50.
Which version of the Savior of the Galaxy do you prefer?

I started with a female Shepard although I don't know why. I wanted to try if a gay romance was possible with the male but forgot  It's a fun game alright.

Femshep is better. Though I did not give manshep a fair chance. I played around with him in 1 and 2, but never did a full 3 game arc with him.

For some reason I can't play single player games as female ... only on 2nd or 3rd run.
I guess because im a male so picking a male character is a given Oo
    Apparently im 1 dimensional...

I typically play as ManShep but I have given FemShep a few rounds which is interesting; typically my opinion is ManShep is better a Paragon while FemShep is better as a Renegade.

  6. I always played as ManShep from 1-3. I'm considering giving FemShep a try once I have time to play again.

I always choose females in any game I get the choice.

I disagree, male Shepard makes a better renegade and female makes a better paragon.

And in me3 there is gay romance.

    P.S.

My original female Shepard from me 1 was who the default Shepard was cloned from, I swear.

  8. I often found that MaleShep makes a great Paragon

One of the things about female Shepard is that she uses a lot of the same lines and stances as male Shepard. I think this gives her a little more personality and a little more depth as she is kind of straddles the gender line rather then fitting right with her sex.

I noticed that too. The same thing goes for Saints Row and now GTA online when you select a female character.

  11. Same goes for Dragon Age, not much of a difference between the male and female character

The boss never dose shut up about her stripper poles. I have often mused why she cares. Is she a lesbian, dose she just like the outfits, maybe she hates women (she has little disregard for anyone who isn't herself.), maybe she just dose it because she feels she should as a gang leader.

I don't disagree. And 2 was mediocre to me. Just didn't click.

  17. I agree about 2. Three was pretty amazing until that dumb ending. Lol it doesn't matter which ending you choose IMO, there's no happy ending

I always played with a male. I gave the woman a quick spin, but couldn't find a hairstyle I was willing to look at for so many hours.

  19. This and I have to admit that default male shep is cute as hell. Lol

At the end of ME 1 after M4 Part 2 by Faunts, I sat there in silence contemplating what I just saw...

It was one of the most brilliant tales on the future of humanity ever written and if anything else in the rest of my day would be as significant. I had the chills just thinking about how awesome It would be if the social and ethical advances of human kind were able to keep up with our technological advances. That to me is what commander Shepard embodied.

Only in very few sources of media do I ever feel so moved as I did in the end of ME 1.

Persona 3 and Metal Gear Solid 3 did too, but that's a different story.
