    I read the book and watched both shows. For me, at the time it was hard seening young people able to be, or start being themselves. I'm grateful that we are in a more open society now them the 1980's and before. Hopefully one day noone willo have to "come out."

    I know Jake, but not like it was, as least overall. Find a movie series called "When We Rise".

    A four-part made for TV movie showing the struggles that were fought and overcome. It follows characters from the 70's thru the 90's. I feel that it is pretty true to life. This coming from a kid that can remember Elvis on TV before he passed. The whole country was a different culture then, maybe some better than now, but also some worse.
    I found it on prime I think but I'm sure it is elsewhere also. Written by or in part by Dustin Lance Black who also wrote Milk. Catch that movie also.
