    I'm writing a book (more like short story so far) about a mom who's agender. I can't think of a good name for the story but I have more or less the rest all figured out (except for a few things.)

    So, I know I'm calling them Jamie. And Jamie, instead of using mom or dad, using Babba (pronounced Baw-baw) which is a gender-neutral alternative to mom or dad that I made up. But, um...are there any common agender stereotypes or reactions to your partner coming out as agender that I should know of?

    Also...anyone have any ideas for the title of the story?

    Thanks!

    Babba...that's really cute, omg.

    Well, I don't know of any stereotypes, considering agenders typically aren't that well known/understood. Common responses to someone coming out as agender include:
    -Confusion on the term "agender"
    -Denial of pronouns/correct gender, if the person is less accepting.

    Personal examples include when I came out to my stepdad about my gender he was at first like "A what?". And I've had friends I come out to say "I'm sorry, but I've referred to you as she for so long that I'm not going to refer to you as they", as well as "You're physically a girl, so you're a girl".

    I'm bad at titles too, I can't help you there, but I hope what I did mention helped a bit.

    Isn't that annoying? When I asked my friends to use my preferred name, they were like:
    Friend 1: Fuck no.
    Friend 2: Fuck yes.
    xD
    But friend 1 still uses my birth name and female pronouns. ; <> ;

    As for the title: I'm not sure if this helps... Probably not...

    I write short stories that I submit for consideration for publication. (So far, the consideration has resulted in an answer of "No!" But that's another story!) Usually, the title usually is the last major decision. By that point, the story is more or less complete, and there is something in the story to suggest a title.

    If they refuse to call you your preferred pronouns and name, they may not be your friend
