So I'm looking to read some LGBT based novels - or even novels with characters that are part of the LGBT community. I am willing to take all recommendations, though bonus points if they have fantasy/sci-fi/etc elements to them.

You might be interested in Eliana's Song, it's a two book series with a lesbian protagonist that I absolutely adore. It's kind of alt-history with fantasy elements and it also explores some themes of religion really interestingly. It has quite a few flaws from a storytelling standpoint but I love the characters so much that I forgive it wholeheartedly.

I haven't read this one but I've heard that Not Your Sidekick is also really good, it's on my list to read soon.

As far as fantasy/sci-fi goes, I might recommend Adaptation by Malinda Lo. It's about a bi girl and has a plot about aliens.
And, of course, Every Day by David Levithan checks a lot of boxes, and it has a fantastical element to it, although I don't know that I'd QUITE call it fantasy or sci-fi. He also recently co-authored a book with Nina LaCour called You Know Me Well, featuring both a gay boy and a lesbian girl as main characters.

I haven't read these yet, but I've heard that As I Descended by Robin Talley and Beast by Brie Spangler are pretty interesting and have LGBT main characters.
