    Me too  .
I connect it with something like amazons... an island for women... and freedom  .

If you look up lesbian terms and there appears annoying stuff its enough to add a few undesired words with a - directly before each...
I do this automatically thus I do not connect it with anything else... and there are so many sex related keywords anyways... I just filter it out.

In general, calling myself gay is much easier, but if I were to have a deeper conversation about my sexuality then I will call myself a lesbian.

I tend to call myself gay (or mostly gay).

However, sometimes I say or think 'God, I am such a lesbian!'. So both, really. Although 'gay' falls off the tongue more easily. Although I actually try to avoid both and just be like 'I like women'.

I think what I find difficult about 'lesbian' is that:

    1. Rightly or wrongly, I often use the word 'gay' in a similar way to which people use 'queer' - As a sort of umbrella term which can encompass someone who is mostly gay (a Kinsey 5 who wants to end up with a woman). I feel unable to do this with 'lesbian'.

    2. Lesbian is a longer word than gay.

    3. I find it difficult how lesbian is a noun and gay is an adjective.

Prefer gay or queer. More than one syllable and I get impatient, nobody has time for that.

Since I'm sort of questioning whether I'm bi or lesbian, I just say I'm gay. Easy and a convenient umbrella term.

If I was gay, I'd proudly call myself a lesbian!

I'd like to say "gay" but it would get a lot of questioning looks. I didn't like the word "lesbian" at ALL at first, but I've warmed to it now.

    Gay.

When someone says lesbian in my native language it almost sounds offensive. At least I'm used to hearing it in a negative way.

I use both, I don't have any qualms with either. It's just whichever comes to mind first. In some situations one may be preferable to the other, though.
