I'm going to highly recommend watching the documentary about the Stonewall uprising.

If you ever wondered what it was like to be gay in the 50s, 60s, 70s, watch the documentary. Many of the points made in the film I already knew - such as lobotomies and experiments on homosexual, I knew about this but seeing actual pics made me want to go crawl under a rock. There were a few things I didn't know. The film drove home how HATED and FEARED and MISUNDERSTOOD homosexuals were back then.

I just have to add, and people talk about "experiments" the Nazi's performed on people. What about the US and the "experiments" performed on gay people?
