    Yes the phrase is used a lot. It's particularly an OVERUSED workplace phrase.

    'Can you touch base with Joe in IT on the server issue?',

    'Oh yeah, I spoke with Mary, she said she will touch base with you tomorrow on the Jones case...'

    Never thought about the phrase too much. But now that I do I realize there is A LOT of base touching going on in the course of my workday. LOTS. :thinking:

    I use it every single day. I touch base with lots of people.

    But my personal favorite business jargon that I NEVER thought about until now is 'heads down'.

    I say it all the time. As in, 'I'm heads down today trying to finish this project'.

    Nice.

    I work for a large farming organization and we are having a "pride tour" next month for all the various locations in our region. Pretty much they take the board members around during harvest to see how busy we are and how much money we are making for the company.

    So, now the big push from management is that all the guys need to be sure to have "their equipment up and running" and also "clean and polished."

    Um..I thought "touching base" had something to do with baseball...What am I missing? I'm having a hard time making it a dirty phrase (and believe me, I'm trying).
