Look for people that have same hobbies. It is easier talk to someone when you have common points of view. Once you have met someone show interest about personal life. If you look for friends outside of internet, sign up in a course or activity of your interest. Bit by bit you will start to talk to them and with time you could get to know people deeply. Friendship is a spontaneous matter and it takes time.
When choosing friends always remember that friendships form because each individual has something the other wants and both have something to offer the other.
