I'm fixing my leaky faucet in the bathroom sink and I got the idea for this poll.

    I voted not at all.

I'm a total and complete klutz around hand tool.

Is the stereotype of gay men being klutz with hand tools true?

Is the stereotype of lesbians being good with hands tools true?

    Let's find out.

    i vote somewhat

I'm pretty familiar and accustomed with surgical hand tools :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
they also have some metal plates, screw, screwdriver, hammers, drill etc...

so in technical sense i do able to use some of the hand tools a little bit somehow (??)

but if i have to use a tool that i've never seen or never used it before i think it will take time to adjust myself

I loved working with wood at school and creating stuff. I'd be happy to learn more about it. I voted mostly.

"Somewhat." I can do some minor repairs, and use basic tools. But I'm far from gifted. I don't have a lot of strength, which can be one issue with some repairs. And I don't have particularly good hand to eye coordination, which can be a real problem for other tasks.

In between mostly and somewhat. So I voted somewhat. I love the sound of a ratchet for some reason. Especially when I pound it on the tractor when removing the cutting deck from the tractor

I say mostly to very mechanical. What I don't know, I can learn. Although, I really excel in
    spacial skills.

Totally not true, either one of them. I know a trucker who is very very gay and he is a whiz with tools, several pretty out there gay guys that do fine as well. I am friends with a straight girl that all the guys bug because she is so good with electronics and tools. I am pretty handy as well and love to talk tools with the guys, but I am a very Femme girl. I even maintain all the yard tools, and sno-bower, lawn mower if I have to and taught my kids all about this as well.

Sometimes I let some random dude fix something for me, but I make sure he knows it's because I don't have time, not because I don't know what to do. Or I don't want to ruin my nails, or get my dress dirty. It also quite frankly sucks to change your tire in high heels, but it's been done!

I can fix some things. I've fixed parts of my car and random furniture. I actually just got done fixing the crappy dresser in my college apartment.

OK a funny story to share about this thread and my neighbor.

So, it turns out I have to replace my sink faucet and I need some CAULK and didn't want to buy a tube of CAULK just to use a tiny bit.

So, I go to my straight male neighbors house.

I knew I had to be very very careful what I said and how I asked the question.

The last thing on earth I wanted to say was

"Can I have some CAULK?" :roflmao:

Long story short, he didn't have any caulk I could borrow. :eusa_doh:

You could have said, "do you have a silicone caulk?"

Giving me a set of tools is like giving a monkey a flamethrower. I don't have a clue what I'm doing but I always manage to screw something up. I took a wood class back in high school, thankful I still have all my fingers!

So based on me alone, I suppose I break the stereotype? I'm always an outlier anyway. Probably not the best person to base any sort of general information off of.

It's not something I particularly enjoy, but I'm okay doing minor repairs or taking things apart and putting them back together. Heck, last spring I fixed my parents' steam cleaner.

I am pretty close to not at all, especially if it involves wrenches etc.

    "Inclined," hmm...

I'm adept at using them. I also hate using them. So, not sure how to answer.

Not at all. :icon_redf I'm really bad at stuff like this. Let's just say that I can barely change a light bulb... so if you asked me to get something else done, which requires using a tool, I'd most likely be like 'gurrl, I don't even know how to handle this, let alone work with it'.

Update on my sink faucet situation.

Both the new faucet and the old faucet are sitting on my bathroom floor.

I kind of tinkered with it a bit for a 2 hours today. I gave up when I didn't have caulk.

It's 930 pm here my time and Im going to bed.

Tomorrow, I will have to go shopping for some caulk and another wrench. I currently have only one wrench and I need two wrenches to tighten a nut.

I wouldn't call myself mechanically inclined, but I can and have done a few things:

    Changed light bulbs
Removed and installed new toilets (we changed to high-efficiency dual-flush ones)
    Removed and installed new sinks
Removed and installed new electrical outlets
Installed curtain rods using an electric drill, screws, anchors, and a level.
    Unclogged toilets
    And a few other things

But, honestly, I am not really mechanically inclined. Most of the above things are pretty basic things most guys should at least know how to do. Oh, and YouTube tutorials and the Internet do help out a lot.
