I imagine most members of this forum have a mobile phone (cellphone) so I'm just curious how much time you spend on your phone each week. Is there anyone who would estimate spending a full day each week on their phone for various reasons?

What do you use your phone for? Just calling and texting, or has it become an essential part of your life with multiple apps?

I don't I read books. Reading is the best way. I only use my phone to talk to my girlfriend and watch youtube videos I don't really like social media it's a waste of time and isn't good for your brain. Books teach you how to think, Bill gates read a book a week.....

I can go on but you know.

It's hard to tell because, aside from watching some videos, i don't use it for long periods of time, but i frequently use it during a few minutes.

I think that, in general, around 10-15 hours a week? Maybe less, maybe i'm underestimating it. But it is important for me because i organize my calendar using my phone, and use it for many other functions. But i don't have patience to use it all the time like some people do. I prefer using the desktop computer.

I use it to come on this forum a lot, when I'm waiting at bus stops (as I am now). Not a big fan of social media. Otherwise I use it to text or talk to my mom mostly. Also I listen to music a lot. So probably around 15-20 hours.

I never ever call anybody on my phone. Each month I probably spend 4 of my calling minutes lol.

My bf and I text every couple of hours on and off each day. Then my brother and best friend text me once every several days.

The main way I use my phone is for the internet, and basically kill time instead of using the computer. Back when I was working, I probably spent a cumulative 1-2 hours a day on my phone and just texted. Now I spend an embarrassingly long time on my phone chilling on the internet aha

I tend to hit extremes with it. There's been weeks I was on it 30+ hours and weeks where I didn't even turn it on the whole time. I probably average around 15 currently. Most of it is studying for my classes while I have time or am doing something else like eating. I text friends but usually don't take calls from anyone other than family members.

I read books, write my music online and use music apps to mix my tracks/editing software. I also text 24/7 and I don't like calling as I'm self conscious of my voice. I'm on it a lot mostly socializing in text message and also on social media. I don't have many people to talk to, so I spend a lot of time online.

Less than 5 hours a week total counting everything I use it for. I mainly use it for; texting, taking photos, and google maps.

Less than 5 as I use my computer for most things. My computer would be more than 24. I have just a few apps on my phone. I call or text sometimes but mostly to my parents and other family since most of my friends are far away online friends so we just talk online and I write to them through my computer.

I only use my phone for two things:

    • As a phone. Typically I make 1 call a month that lasts a minute or two (to pay a bill). I'm unlovable, so no one in his or her right mind wants to actually talk to me.
    • I use it in place of a watch to keep an eye on the time when I'm out in public
The phone is an old flip phone, so it doesn't have the latest Internet connectivity.

:blush:I easily spend more than 24 hours a week on my phone, I'm sure. My job leaves me with a lot of time to kill, so I'm usually checking on this forum multiple times a day, playing Wordfeud, reading stuff online, etc....
With the exception of my rent, I pay all my bills thru my phone. I have a Moto Z2 Play, and I have the JBL speaker moto mod, so I'm pretty much always listening to music and watching YouTube as well.
I have a lot of anxiety and get restless very easily, and my phone becomes an anchor for me to focus myself. I feel like I would go stir crazy without it.
I work over 60 hours a week, so this makes getting thru the days much easier. However, when I'm actually home, I'm seldom on it.
That's what I have my big screen tv's and my game consoles for.

There's only a few things i use my phone for: Playing Simpsons Tapped Out, Playing Grand Prix Story 2, Checking Facebook and Twitter, (Depending what mood i'm in) watching videos and calling and texting people while the rest I do on my PC or PS2 and sometimes I read a book.

I put more than 24 hours because I feel like I spend most of my free time on my phone.

I voted 10-15 but realistically it's probably over 24 hours. I have a partial, self-imposed mobile phone ban at home where feasible, except to link it up to speakers to play music or lectures. And when exercising, even if I'm not using my phone for communicating, I am probably listening to music.

I like to use my phone fairly passively - if something involves any significant writing, I'll probably move to my laptop.

Very little for anything other than phone calls or a quick internet search. I’m notoriously bad at answering texts in a timely fashion, much to my mom’s chagrin. I was raised to not be constantly poring over a phone like so many millennials do, and I often won’t feel it vibrate.

I'm sure I spend 24+ hours on it per week, because I use it a lot for reading (Kindle app).
My phone usage for phoning and texting, though, is about... 5 minutes/week, I guess. XD

Easily more than 24, but that's mostly because I use it 8+ hours a night at work, five days a week, to listen to my Pandora so that my boring-ass job isn't even more boring. Other than that, probably between 10-15, working on my story (usually during my breaks/when I'm in bed trying and failing to sleep; otherwise I just use my computer), checking my social media, or checking football-related stuff. I think the thing I use it for the least, ironically enough, is texting/calling people.
