I've been out long enough that I honestly don't encounter homophobia much. Usually when I do it is some sort of unthinking comment from someone who hasn't realized I'm gay--people generally don't realize that I am gay until I bring it up. When that happens I point out that I am and in my experience people generally apologize. I guess that means that I just don't really encounter a lot of really hateful homophobia, more just careless and that largely stopped when I came out.

I usually try to just ignore the homophobes since arguing with them is like talking to a brick wall most of the time.

This may seem cowardly but I'd rather not respond.

If I were to argue and rant at every opportunity about homophobia I'd probably have even less friends than I already have. Plus, they are the type of ignorant that generally can't be cured. It would be a waste of breath to even try.

So I just take note of who thinks what and move on.

I put on my gay/white girl voice. Then I say "that was really homphobic. I don't condone that." Then I put back on my normal voice and I say that they are going to get beat up by gay people one day.

I hope that's how I should handle it? LOL

I've always tended to ignore it as much as that is possible.

    Oh hunee............

My inner Drag Queen Bitch From Hell takes over.........I shred them up one side and down the other, and then rip them a new "hole".

By the time I get through with them, they are whimpering in the corner.

I haven't encountered very much. A friend of mine's brother has been vitriolic, but he's a pathetic fool, I mean he works for a crematorium, so I care very little about what his opinions are on anything. The only other time was when I came out, and my oldest friend went on a rant about my coming out and how I was damned and an abomination. Didn't finish the e-mail, just deleted it much as I did with her in my life. Other than that I've not encountered anything.

I don't get offended, I've been insulted too many times for that, but I explain why they're wrong.

I honestly want to curb stomp them, but surprisingly I took open homophobia towards me recently pretty well.

It comforts me to know I could put them in the dirt if they really pissed me off, so I just fantasize kicking their ass.

Sorry but homophobes have emotionally hurt me, and I'm not Jesus, so I got no problem hurting someone that's hurt me, don't care if it's immature or not, some people need to be taught a lesson.

I never will, but I was honestly scared the first person to openly be homophobic to me was gonna have their ass kicked by me.

Honestly if I was bigger, I'd have no problem knocking out anyone that says anything to me.

To me if you do that, they're gonna be scared to do it again, and you are actually benefiting gay people in the future that may be harmed by them. Words don't work with homophobes, but letting them know they'll get hurt if they spew their bullshit again will.
