I am new to EC and forums in general as this is my first. I've never done this kind of thing before but I don't know where else to start. Hopefully EC is the place to help me understand more about my gender identity. There is a sub-forum on gender identity that I am aware of and I will be posting there soonish. Does anyone have other suggestions or resources that they'd be willing to share on topics of gender identity? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your time.

Hey, I don't have any immediate suggestions myself but there are plenty of people here who will, and who will have lived experiences of what you're going through too. You've definitely come to the right place, I hope you feel at home here and please feel free to post in the gender identity sub-forum whenever you're ready to.

QOTH.....Hello and a great big LGBTQIA+ welcome to Empty Closets! I can remember the first post that I made on EC. I was desperate for help and I got the help that night that I so needed. I hope that we can help you in the same way that I received help. The most important thing to remember about Empty Closets is that we do care about you! We're very glad that you found us here on EC and hope that we can answer questions, give you support and provide a place to vent (as long as it's not violent!) :old_big_grin: when that becomes necessary!

*****There are 18 different sub-forums here that you can check out and join in the conversations or start your own thread/conversation. As you mentioned, you may want to check out the forum that is titled "Gender Identity and Expression”, there are people there who have dealt with some of the same kind of issues that could be challenging you. There really are people in all of the forums who are willing to share their experiences and will help you in any way that they can. So many of us have been through really tough times and are willing to help fellow members of the LGBT family so that they don't have to suffer like we did. You just have to ask and I think that you'll find a lot of people who have gone through the same things will will offer their help!

*****When you have made at least 10 posts on various threads you will be able to post messages on a member's Profile Page. Just click on a member's Avatar Picture and then click on "Profile Page" in the dialogue box that pops up. You'll then be on their Profile Page and there will be a box that says: "Write Something" When you have been on EC for a few weeks and have made at least 50 posts on various forums, you can apply for Full Membership. A Full Member can send Private Messages (PM) to other Full Members and share personal contact info. Right now you can only send a PM to a Staff Member as that is always possible. Here is a quote from the Full Membership information forum: :old_cool:

*****To be eligible you must be a member of Empty Closets for a minimum of two weeks, and have a minimum of 50 posts. These posts must be across numerous forums (Fun & Games does not contribute to post count), and consistently posted across a minimum of two weeks. You wouldn't be eligible, for example, if you registered, had no activity for two weeks, and then returned to post 50 times on your 14th day of membership.

*****Well, as I said, we're very glad you found us! :old_rolleyes: If you have any questions at all, you can send me a Private Message.

Welcome to EC! Gender identity isn't my forte sadly, but I do believe there's a sticky in that sub-forum? Otherwise, there are a number of staff members (advisors and mods) who have a great deal of knowledge regarding gender identity, plus a lot of great members who can offer support and input along the way.

    Thank you.

I appreciate the encouragement. And yes, I look forward to finding people with similar lived experiences. That sounds very hopeful. Thank you.

I've already read quite a few of the posts on the gender identity forum and it has been very reassuring. Knowing that there are people going through similar things at all ages is very helpful. Thank you for your availability and I will be sure to reach out in a pm if I have questions about EC.

It is good to know that there are staff that I can rely on as well. Whether it's your forte or not I appreciate the support.

Thank you all for the help and reassurance.
