    Here's a question for the males/male identifying members here:

    Would you wear a traditional Scottish Kilt? Why or why not? Would you feel it was somehow still 'too effeminate'?

    Me, I think I would, as I've seen a few guys here wearing the, and they tend to pull off the look well.

    I also hear it's the tradition not to wear anything under them...so no underwear!

    Females and others can answer too, but I'm mainly wondering about males, and their views on this.

    No. I think they look weird (no offense to the Scottish) when I say weird I don't mean girly, just not my style

    Maybe if I were Scottish, I would. Otherwise, don't have much reason to want to wear something like that. I prefer skinny jeans or shorts :slight_smile:

    Eh... If I marry a Scot and he wants a "traditional" wedding in national costume, sure. I guess I would only wear it for its cultural significance to someone I like and not just to be a hipster :lol:.

    And, I'd wear underwear haha.

    If I were ever in Scotland, or somewhere where wearing a Kilt isn't that odd, yeah, I'd maybe try it. I'd definitely wear underwear underneath however. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    They seem a bit heavy and overly-masculine. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Plus, I feel it would be "cultural appropriation". On others they look fine, don't get me wrong!

    I actually was looking at buying a kilt, but they are pretty freeking expensive.

    Traditional Scottish kilts are VERY expensive....
    Especially if they are custom made

    I like the Cargo Kilts
    Still expensive, but not as expensive as the traditional ones
    And they look better to me

    I want one in black and grey Camo though...

    And I WOULD be wearing my undies!!!

    I just can't wrap my head around the utilikilt. It's because I think of the garment as traditional/ceremonial, but that design focuses on practicality. I haven't reconciled the two yet.

    They look nice, but I'd be hard-pressed to wear one myself. I don't feel manly enough to pull it off lol.

    Yes I would wear a kilt, if I wasn't around my family. I would also paint my face blue and act the entire Braveheart movie out.

    @Mr. Tinkles: I've seen some worn like the second, more simple version you posted, I think with a black turtleneck. I've maybe known 3 guys, none of them gay, who sometimes wear kilts out and about, over the past decade. And they did pull the look off well.

    Huh, now I'm really pondering getting one. I've always had a fascination with Scotland, from castes to the landscape to Scrooge McDuck.

    So before mobs of hipsters beat me to it, I think I'll have to get a kilt, so long as I can find an affordable model...I think I'm down to just 3 pairs of pants and 1 PVC pair that I don't war too often, to this might be practical.
