Like a lot of people, I was laid off a few months ago due to the pandemic, but now that the US is starting to open back up I've received notice that I should expect a call to come back to work soon. I've actually enjoyed the past few months because I was lucky enough to have a supportive family, and it's given me the opportunity to be myself, dressing and acting how I want. Basically, I got to be a girl pretty much 24/ 7. But while I'm out at home, I'm not out at work yet, so this means having to dress and act like a boy for significant portions of the day. Last time I went to the store, I got called "ma'am" by a stranger for the first time in my life (not counting the occasional phone call). I am NOT looking forward to going back to work, where everyone calls me "he", "him", "sir", or my birthname...
I, myself, am on disability and don't work. My typical day (prior to all of this) involved cruising around town on the bus, and going to the library (I don't have internet at home). I would dress femininely and paint my nails (sadly, I'm nowhere near able to pass as a woman but I still enjoy dressing for myself). With nowhere to go and no one to see I mostly stopped trying too hard. Earlier this month I traveled with my mom from my home in Cincinnati, back to her house in South Carolina (the reason why she was in Cincy and the reason why I went with her are complicated). I am still mostly closeted with my family, so I have gone totally butch. With things reopening back in Ohio, I plan to go back to dressing femme when I get home next week.
