I feel like if I am going to move out and start my transition, I think I may need a roommate. The problem is I don't know any potential ones, and I have serious hangups about going with a stranger. I'd have to at least know that they're accepting of trans people, and would be okay living with a transitioning one, especially a woman. Any ideas where I might be able to find one?

Too bad I don't still live in Pennsylvania. I have similar wishes for a roommate, but of course wouldn't want to room with someone who might murder me for being transgender.

I would suggest networking through supportive friends or maybe tapping some LGBT-safe clubs or organizations to see if they know anyone looking for a place.

    I wish you the best.

Too bad you don't....but thanks for the advice buddy. (*hug*)

Networking has never been my strong suit. Perhaps I should work on that.

Whereabouts in PA are you? I'm from Pgh originally...I could tap into my Pgh knowledge to help you think it through if that helps at all....

That would be nothing short of amazing! I may be moving to LA in June, so it may only be for a semester.

I've had similar trouble. I once almost moved in with a household composed entirely of LGBT folk, only to have a text from them the day after viewing the place to the effect that they didn't really like me.
