Got kind of bored so just curious what some of the community's favorite historical figures are, no specific time period or anything just someone who actually existed.

Mine are Boudica, Sir Oswald Mosley, Napoleon, George Orwell, John III Sobieski and Catherine the Great.

Would really like some discussion on the topic! ~Cheers

Hippocrates for his contributions to medicine and the professionalization of healthcare.

Alexander the Great for his contributions to knowledge, by collecting everything written he could find to send to the library of Alexandria.

Immanuel Kant for his contributions to moral philosophy and his unique insights into ethics and metaphysics.

Hmmm... difficult question. I'll stick to heads of state or government for the sake of brevity. Akhenaten, Trajan, Louis XIV, Napoléon, Emperor Meiji, Winston Churchill, Juan Carlos of Spain.

There are other, divisive figures whose lives I find interesting nevertheless, such as Fidel Castro.

Ugh! Too many to choose lol!
    Mark Twain
    Abraham Lincoln
    FDR
    The Dalai Lama
Many more I love but I have to say my absolute favorite that not enough people know the story of is Robert Smalls. He was a slave who stole his master's ship during the civil war. Loaded it up with his and other crew families. Conned his way past the Confederate blockade by perfectly imitating his (former) master's voice. Surrendered the ship to the Union and as reward was put in charge of it as the first black ship captain in the Union Navy. After the war he bought his former master's house and became one of the first black members of the house of representatives. This man had balls the size of boulders made of solid frikken steel!

This is a great topic! I am obsessed with a lot of historical figures but to name just a few they would be, Richard III of England, Mary and Percy Shelley, and Emily Bronte. I have a particular interest in literary figures. I'm currently an English history major so that has always been an interest of mine.

I also find Oscar Wilde, Queen Christina of Sweden, and Alexander the Great to be extremely interesting.
