There has been some confusion about the PG-13 tag that has been added to a few of the more risqué threads in this section, so I want to clear this up:

In short, the tag is a limit, not a challenge.

The tag is put on threads that repeatedly stray into being too risqué for our community, which, you should remember, includes people as young as 13. It's not an indicator that you should try to be risqué and reach the PG-13 level; it's a reminder to not go above the PG-13 level. Whenever possible, you should keep things G or PG.

That's all. Have fun, just don't get carried away. :icon_wink If you have any questions, feel free to start a thread in Ask the Staff.

As a reminder, threads based around the concept of 'popularity contests' are not allowed on the community. This includes any threads based around the idea of asking somebody to pick an individual EC member, or a list of EC individuals, who meet the criteria of X. An example of such a topic would be: "Which EC member(s) would you be bezzies with?".

These types of topics were allowed a long time ago, but merely caused unnecessary problems due to people feeling it contributed to the existence of a clique/hierarchy, and thus feeling excluded and/or ignored. Given that EC is primarily serving those who are already at a significant risk of social exclusion within their physical community, it is not conductive to EC's charitable mission to allow similar dynamics to play out here. As a result, this policy helps us to try and address this issue.

Any threads that are posted which into the 'popularity contest' category will be removed, as will any old threads that get bumped which pre-date this policy and now falls on the wrong side of it.

To clarify, threads that fall into 'the poster above' territory are not covered under this policy. Such threads require an individual to actively opt-in in order to participate, so there is no cause for concern amongst the staff team when addressing hierarchical concerns.

It has been noted that the Member Interviews thread potentially falls on the wrong side of this policy, due to the questions asking people to pick x EC'ers for y spots. The thread has made great strides at ensuring it is inclusive and aims to equally include all who wish to participate, therefore the staff team is willing to turn a blind eye to the occasional 'EC list' question. However, please don't abuse this by going overboard. If such questions continue to become a more prominent theme within the framework of questions asked, the staff team may have no choice but to pull the thread. The bit of leeway being given is a testament to the popularity of the thread and the effort being put into it by those creating questions. The wiggle room, though, can only be so much. Please keep this in mind.
