    They should have their talk in May. Kim says he is willing to de-nuclearize.

    It'd be good if this actually does happen but I'd be very skeptical of North Korea.

    Unfortunately, it appears from today's news that this was another ridiculous example of Trump not understanding US policy, how protocol works, and not even understanding the whole situation.

    His press secretary had to tapdance today and walk back what he said, replacing it with "There will be talks if the conditions are met" which is what the last 4 or 5 administrations have said. Apparently North Korea has always wanted to have talks, but has never agreed to the conditions.

    So likely it's a whole lot of nothing. We'll see.

    I really don't think North Korea wants things to change at all. Even when they get what they want they aren't happy, they just like being famous for all the dramatic things that happen. It's kind of become their method of survival. Without constantly threatening everyone, nobody would pay attention to their country anymore because they don't have anything useful to the worldwide economy. Threats are how they get aid packages and bargaining power, without that they may not even be able to run their own country at all due to lack of food and basic necessities that are currently provided to them by other countries like Russia and China. Even the United States gives them money and free stuff relatively often for humanitarian reasons.
