You will just never believe how scary cyberstalking can be until it happens to you and affects your job, your friendships and your finances, not to mention your personal security in your own home. You can even be cyberstalked by someone you know and once loved, just because they can't or won't let go of the relationship. It feels a lot like rape to be threatened and harassed, emailed, texted and phoned, hundreds of times in a 48 hour period. And the police are incredibly unhelpful. You are probably thinking, just block the person. But they can just make up a new email for themselves. You can block them from your phone, but they can just pick up another phone and call. You can change phone numbers and emails, but they can still search you out. It's scary. And the worst part in my state is that, although a woman can get a restraining order against a man, and a man can get a restraining order against a woman, a woman cannot get a restraining order against a woman unless they are living together. Same for a man and a man. No same sex restraining orders while still at the dating stage.
