I am part of the LGBTQIA+ community and I fully accept it and fully embrace it but I'm not going to lie, it's a learning process ... Probably for all of us and all these different terms and not really knowing/understanding what they mean fully and trying to figure out where and who I fit in and belong as. It's confusing.

For example, I don't really know the difference between androgynous and non binary and I don't know what afab means and I have no clue what gender dysphoria is, plus I don't really understand what cisgender is and many other identities covered by LGBTQIA+. It's making my head spin I'm so confused. Not just about the terms.... But everything!! And also I get confused with the different flags. And also I don't really understand how I identify and sorry I'm kind of venting now. I don't know if anyone can actually help me but yeah, just needed to say all this. Um sorry for venting.

Also I did ask about getting a therapist who specialises in gender identity etc but the people I asked haven't got back to me, and I don't want to keep asking. Though I suppose I should because they may have forgot but idk.

    :astonished:

Androgynous is about presentation and simply means an appearance that is between what is stereotypically masculine or feminine.

Non binary is an experience of gender where a person does not really feel fully male nor female, different people express feeling this in different ways.

AFAB is just an acronym for Assigned Female at Birth and indicates what a person was declared when they were first born and held up by the doctor. That whole "it's a girl" type thing. It is the standard assignment given to any child who is either Prader Scale 0 or 1 when they are born https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prader_scale

Gender Dysphoria is a feeling of discomfort felt by people who are not comfortable living within the confines of their birth assignment.

Cisgender is a term applied to people who are comfortable living within the social norms of their assigned sex at birth. It was coined to be the opposite of Transgender rather than using the term "normal".

I have uncertainty over many of the flags also.

Hey Charlie, I hope the photo I’ve uploaded of all the flags helps. I’m not sure what some of them even mean. I’m pretty sure pony (bottom right) doesn’t mean what I’m thinking of!)
