Coming out for me as genderfluid at age 12,I was a little nervous. My parents thought I was a normal son that was fully masculine.I knew I was really male and female at the age of 5.It got to the point my parents were heavily concerned about me.I remember them calling me out to the back deck one day having me sit down.Looked at me and said they were heavily concerned about me.Finally looked at them straight in the eye and said there was something about me,was nervous at first. Finally told them I am happy as male coming out seeing myself as male and female. It was hard at first for them. One question they asked was where they went wrong raising me.Finally seeing a therapist, they were relieved it was not their fault and learned new things about this. They learned I have always been this way and adjusted to the changes. One was dressing as male one day and then as female the next day.Great thing is they love me for who I am to this day.

My parents learned to adjust to this very well and give them credit for that

Yes, Coming Out doesn't always go smoothly, especially for bi-gender people, but the point is that your parents weren't closed-minded and DID adapt to your (to them) new reality.
