Amazing! So glad it went well and their reactions were better than you expected.

I think you have been really brave.

CONGRATULATIONS! We're all so proud of you. I want to cry happy tears on your behalf.

And you know what, my family will be fine.(They're no where near as homophobic as yours sounded...)I think I actually might do it. I want to do it tonight! Though when I say "I'm pansexual" I feel like I'll get a look...a very confused "so you're into frying pans?" look. I think Imight go for it, just rip the band-aide off.....

Yeah, I actually didn't invoke a label at all in any of the 3 conversations yesterday. I said that Iwas "not straight." I admitted that I can like some guys, that I mostly like guys who are exclusively gay, but the straight guy that I actually like is so rare as to basically not exist. Mom asked for like a percentage, guessing like 70/30, and I told her 90% ladies 10% guys, though it's probably a bit higher than that for ladies. So, I'm not really sure what Icame out as per say other than that Iwould like a girlfriend and I want them to have time to think about that and get used to the idea before it actually happens.

I was thinking about taking an easier route out, and just saying "I'm not straight and I think I want a boyfriend." Even that's not really true, truth is I don't care who I date, if I like them I like them. But it would eliminate the "repress it and just date girls," reaction I still think is possible.....I'll figure it out.

Yeah. I think it's probably good long term to give them vocabulary, because words have power, but yesterday my goal was just to communicate the basic thing. I did not need to use the word "lesbiflexible" to get that accross.

Yeah, I'm probably going to just go with "I like boys AND girls. I can't control it, nor can I control the fact that I want to date both. I COULD very well still end up with a woman, but I also very well COULD end up with a man. I don't need you to be thrilled, or understand, but I'd love to have your love and support."

I don't know that I need to use the word "pansexual" and explain that to them. Later, sure, but for now.....give it to them in smaller doses in other words.

Like you, I also have some "coming out gifts" picked out for myself.

Aren't they! I actually thought about getting the bracelet thing, as I doubt most people(including my muggle family) wouldn't actually know what it means.....but I decided I needed some motivation to actually DO IT, so I put it on the back burner.

Enough about me. I want to hear more details Katch! :icon_bigg
